Even though the scanlations were taking forever (don't really mind though) I thought of adding a topic for other fans of this series to discuss as we wait in our little corners of otaku fandom :3

Personally I believe that thsi series is great, no even BETTER than great, it's sheer awesomeness can't be described.

SPOILER ALERT

When I first picked up this series via scanlations, I thought it was just another half assed series, the illustrations were better than good, and it had it's own 'style' in a way.

After reading the first few pages, I believed that Akumetsu was another 'school life' series or atleast had potential for it, that was, until I saw the room full of high school slaves and fat businessmen. By the first three chapters, I was already obsessed, With the mystery behind the mask and cape, and the whole bizarre suicides through explosions, it sparked a light in my mind and thought, "This is TRUE Shounen." Something as interesting that would deal with the modern life of Japan and the conspiracies behind the government and the money that gets transacted between officals.

One element which caught my attention, was the methods of killing he would use, such as cleaving an axe into someones head, or maybe blowing off an enforcer's fingers with a magnum. It was just such a cool idea, the 'Violator of Justice'.

Akumetsu is a promising shonen title to me, so I wonder what other fans have to say about this series.

I find it fulfills my desire for blood and story, and the art is just gravy on the cake. I want them mutilated instead of being rescued, and I get mutilation, it rocks.

He not only does it with style with an unknown power (so far). He manages to be hilarious too.

Damn I'm awesome!! That's one hell of a way to die man!!

Also I agree with you in that this is true shonene/seinen. I'm really anticipating this and it's future releases.

sounds like a pretty general consensus

i really want to find out exactly how he does it, the whole exploding head/multiple bodies trick, then again it just be better to be that mysterious

its the perfect amount of stylized gore and provoking thought all in one exploding pakage

maybe if i concetrate really hard, the scanslators will some how work faster(thinking.......thats actually a little tiring)

Well, they'd catch the person.. you could narrow it down because you know his hair and body size and the general location..

It's strange that no one brought this up, but did anyone consider the possibility that this manga is a political outlet meant to educate people?

I don't live in Japan nor know what's going on there, but if you understand the financial policies the manga talks about (post beginning), it's very feasible for the stuff the manga talks about to be real.

For example, some of the stuff that I can relate to are the uncontrolled debt and credit expansion the manga talks about. This is something the US had started doing in the 70s, but the concept is quite old, and is actually a pretty dangerous thing. It's something that eventually leads to economic instability and maldistribution of wealth.

So while I don't know what's going on in Japan, some of the stuff mentioned in the manga happens in the US too. So who knows. The manga may very well be talking about real things going on in Japan in an attempt to educate the readers, or at least make them less ignorant.

My thoughts exactly. Most people are probably in it for the action and the gore (which does make it awesome 😛 ), but I am very interested in the politics of Akumetsu, and Shou's view on the way his country is slowly decaying. Woah, Déjà vu...
