okay, most manga endings are crappy, but are there any that you thought were really good? I really liked the ending to the Elfen Lied anime.
Glados is a bitch. She made me kill the companion cube, the only friend I'll ever have. 😢

I'm one of the few people that actually really liked the ending to death note. I thought it was well done poetic justice, although the series could've ended much sooner...

(like 5 volumes or so sooner)
I enjoy the endings to most manga, though the ones I don't like just leave a sense of unfulfilment. I just finished Flame of Recca, decent ending there, Basilisk's ending was great, like I said, most are decent since they actually are endings.

I like the ending of both Hikaru no Go and Death Note (and I am a Kira fan) .Both of them ends in a sad but really meaningful way .
The final lost against Ko yongha
- is a exemple of one of the main asset of HnG: the accurate scale of strenght . Even if Hikaru is strong , contrary to 99% shonen manga he's not all powerful just because he 's the hero .At some point in the manga there is even a picture of the scale of strength in the world of japanese go and where hikaru is standing. Other young stars of the go who have played longer than him are still above him for quite a time . It's perfectly logical and it makes his victory worth to be read .
- depicts his growth : even if he lost he came as close as a 1/2 point victory which is quite impressive for someone having begun this late .
- shows effectively that it's not the destination but the trip which is important : only the go game is important .
The go competition will never end .It's not that much important for the reader to know Hikaru's whereabout after this tournament . We have seen him grown and all the other tournament will be pretty much the same . When Akira gives him his hand it's perfectly clear that this tournament belong to a whole , a life dedicated to go , the path that those 2 rivals and friends have chosen . The only thing they can claim is to pursue the goal of the god of hand by playing but they can't claim to reach it . They 're just here for the sake of carrying on this millenar tradition hence the relative importance of the outcome of the tournament .
*Deathnote
delivers a really ambiguous message , perfectly in the tone of the serie .
For one part Raito seems to have lost and the world to recover his former balance.
For an other part the influence of Kira is still enticing the world .
- Masuda the cop who shot kira is in the same time unconsciously his first fan .He keeps wondering about the world Kira/raito would have been able to create if he didn't stop this latter . He's even trying to sully the reputation of N , blaming him unconsciously to have destroyed his god . He's a perfect exemple of the general feeling (I mean the feeling of both the population and the reader) about kira : in the same time appaled and enticed by kira.
- Even if Raito is dead the world still believes in Kira and his followers will never stop to adore him . The last picture on the girl with shinigami eyes shows that an other Kira can be released . The person embodying Kira doesn't really mater . He created a symbol that noone can destroy anymore. Ironically he went as close as possible to the condition of god even if he died for that. As a Kira fan I don't have really the feeling that Kira lost even if obviously I'm a bit sad that Raito lost to this dwarf of N. I still really enjoyed a lot the ending.
That's really 2 perfect ending .

I had to go through my list of completed manga, but here they are:
Goth
Hoshi no Koe
KOR
Love Hina
Maison Ikkuku (which was already mentioned)
Skyhigh
A good ending is hard for me to come across, and I haven't finished reading a lot of manga.

Me too, but I don't have to have the "Three years later" part. I'm happy if the series is nicely wrapped up and leaves me satisfied. A lot of endings were too abruptly ended, overdue, or I just didn't like how it ended (ie. how Manaka didn't choose Aya).

haha, I hated the ending of Death Note...
I was expecting and hoping for
Light and his teams name to be on the fake death note
I did love the ending for:
Vampire Juuji Kai
Saishuu Heiki Kanojo
Since you mentioned an anime (at least an anime version of a manga hehe)
I loved the ending of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, School Days... ok I'll stop here before this gets out of hand lol
I didn't particularly like the Elfen Lied anime ending though...
I hear that it's different from the manga... unfortunately the last two volumes have been sold out for a while -.-

I couldn't resist highlighting part of the Elfen Lied spoiler and now I regret it.
There hasn't been an ending that I particularly like yet. Most of the manga I've read have open endings.
