DJD - abbreviation for "degenerative joint disease" -- term used for patients experiencing osteoarthritis (seen usually in seniors age 65+). Not to be confused with rheumatoid arthritis (seen in younger patients). 🙂

When making an incision (cauterizing) for an ORIF (in this case, it was for an ankle fracture), it smells like barbeque... (not to mention, you hear the sizzle when the instrument touches the skin)... yummm...
