With the coming of MangaPirate there have been a rupture in the community - easily seen on TheCompany chat and in the comments under EGscans releases and Mangapirate releases (although some of them were deleted).

What do you think? When you get a faster release of a manga, even if the quality is inferior, do you read it? Would you read it? (In case you don't follow any of these series.) Do you see the difference in quality?

I'm a reader for a while now (over 4 years on baka) and I've seen cases of scanlators taking releases from each other. However, it mostly concerned The Great Three or singular releases (like Sakicow and A-team - The Breaker). This time it's on a much larger scale.

Fast > Quality

I won't try to be the superior or a good guy, i'm been as honest as it will get. Even more, if the quality is too high it becomes too heavy and that i count as negative trait.

I go to the fansubs and download the best version when it comes out (if it does), but bad quality doesn't bother me even one little bit.

edit: I meant that when you don't have much space in your hard-drive and you don't like to Read online, if the file is too heavy it becomes annoying

edit2: This doesn't mean i approve of such terrible manners as to take series a site has been working on for a long time.

edit3: Asking here was dumb, no offense, people would most likely said Quality and think they are been honest, but if they want to read something and it comes out Iluminaty style (4 chapters a year with luck) i can bet my heart they will go for the faster release (just giving an extreme example tough), and you have the numbers as proof.

I'm currently following more than 250 different manga just in MT and it never comes out fast enough for me.

The God of high School had 6 chapters released in 2 day...going by EGscans time thats 6 weeks more than 1 and a half months....

Not to forget Tower of God and Girls of the Wild's some other affected series...

Mangapirate has got a bare minimum quality with speed so if u really lovethe series and are a fanatic i am certain its impossible to resist reading after knowing the chapter is out.The Tower of God Forums on Batoto itself have spoilers released within 1 hour of the chapter which majority of the members respond to.So Speed is always a concern

But as a long term follower of the series i always support the quality scans.I mentioned this on Batoto too how TheCompany adds the author's blog translations and makes an extra effort at things.Same way with EG Scans who beat Manga Pirate to the latest chapter 67 of "The God of High School"...

If i am downloading and preserving for rereading like hell i would save Speed Scans 😀

As long as the text is readable and there are no grammar/spelling mistakes, speed.

If they're going to mess up "your" and "you're" then they should all commit suicide and stop scanlating manga or get a proofreader.

I don't mind waiting a bit, especially for high quality releases like The Company - with additional notes from the author found on the web/wiki/his blog.

Well i dont see the need to respect someone that intentionally takes popular series that these groups have been working hard to release, i mean they even took egs online reader lol, thats just really disrespectful and rude in many ways.

EGscans needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
We don't care how perfect a release it, we just want a release that is satisfying to a point.

MangaPirate aren't terrible, they just aren't trying to behave like publishers who have license to a series. They are behaving like TRUE scanlators. Did the authors of Noblesse and the other series they scanlate start publicly humiliating scanlation groups that translate their series? NO. Wake UP and smell the coffee.

As much as a scanlator can gripe and complain about another group "stealing" their series, there isn't any way to regulate such behavior. There is no higher authority that can dictate who can and who can't publish scanlations. It's the internet...it's the Wild Wild West, lol.

Personally, I follow the original scanlator (A-Team formerly kmts, Webtoon Live, etc...). Quality does make a difference, not only in the clarity of the resolution, but also the typesetting and accurate translation.

In my case, i'm not an up-to-date reader, so speed is not the first important thing for me. I read when i have time to read. But if there are same series being worked on, i prefer the one which done better.
But i understand, if i really love those series, been waiting for the latest release, then there's someone release it faster, i would get tempted to read it. Once, twice, read and then compare them which one is better.

And yeah, i see the difference in quality. For MP case, most of the work they do are webtoons (the popular ones which being done by other groups), the source is available free on the internet. So for image quality, there's no difference between their's and the other groups' (While in black and white manga, we need cleaning steps etc, and that make the result done by different group is pretty clear). In the end, the difference lay in the translations. MP, as a result of their speed scan policy, often left some texts untranslated if it's hard to do.

A team is a horror on any project.When they were KMTS Amaru was epic with the translations and the necessary additional information to be added with the chapters example UxU

Nowadays the blatant use of watermarks from them makes me wonder why they even bother with it..Check Sekirei chapter 131 or 132 i believe had full page watermarks or The breaker New Waves for that matter of fact.

What sucks is most of it is "Fuck You Mangafox" whereas we all know that Mangafox or Mangareader is only doing the same thing A-Team is doing to the authors of the series.Read the poignant appeal from the manhwaka of The breaker series for reference if u have any doubts

But speed, if the manga gets licensed then quality since I will have it hanging around my home as a decoration after being done with the manga.

Depends on the person.
They have the option you know, they could read fast with LQ or wait a bit longer to read in HQ
