Hello all my Manga Loving People. I am Seyan. I have used to site for quite some time, and I felt it was time to reveal myself from the shadows. I am an old friend to manga downloading but a new friend to scantalating. As I say "Hello." to you all, I also pose a question. I cannot read Japanese for crap and I need two things. An electronic dictionary to convert Japanese Romaji to English and a complete list of all Japanese Kanji and their meanings. With this, I should be able to make some releases we have all been dying to see. For example, Rosario+Vampire 1 and 2, Kanokon, Akumetsu, Girl Saurus DX, Tosiuhe No Hito, Birdy the Mighty, and Zero In to name a few. If you could please help me to help you. Thank you for your time.

hiya and you sure a dictionary is all you need? that's gonna turn into some terrible literal translation that no one will understand.
It'll end up something similar to this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinglish
Where people just translate literally and don't get the figurative sense.

If you're going to scanlate without knowing hte language join the editing section instead of the translator!! haha, there are not only language nuances as well as metaphors, cultural references, and other things that will get lost in translation if you aren't fluent in the language.
anyway we welcome you from the lurking shadows. have fun being a poster now.

Hi.

Unless you actually have knowledge of Japanese, then your translations aren't going to be very good anyway. You could always find work as a cleaner or editor for an existing scanlation group.

Are you actually going to post or are you just asking for help breaking into the world of scanlation?

If it be the former you seek, godspeed.

I wouldn't recommend trying to convert romaji to English, because of kanji causing various meanings for one word you can end up with some really bizarre stuff. Even if you have a complete Kanji dictionary, without a large knowledge of grammar you may vary well end up with things worse than the signs in funkmu's link.

That said, I have no idea what your level of Japanese proficiency is. It's probably a better bet to look for a translator than to use a dictionary though.

Everything else aside, welcome. .

That's why if you want to scanlate you can learn photoshop faster than japanese.

Point very well taken. As you've said my Japanese level is very low. That being said, anyone know any people who would be willing for an unknown person like myself.

Check the recruitment forum. There are a bunch of groups looking for help.

Willing for what? Willing to teach you Japanese? Then no one here will help on that...
Willing to take on new editors? I guess someone will take you in...

Anyways, welcome to the forum-side of things

wait, I am all mixed up....Welcome

(then again probably can read it according to that rule that if the beginning letter and final letter are in the same place the brain can still figure out the word)
