fairy tail anime
ive been wondering about a fairy tail anime for a while now. i heard that when the author was questioned for details on a potential adaption, he didn't say anything. i think that this is truly a manga worthy of a full adaption (like naruto, bleach, one piece, d gray man). does anybody else have updates or speculation or whatever? this is one of my favorite manga! (others are soul eater, negima, and pumpkin scissors)
please leave a reply 🙂
thank you!

If Fairy Tail does get adapted into an anime, I hope that it leasts adapts most of the volumes instead of being 26 episodes (or cancel halfway like Rave Master).
It's surprising that there hasn't been one to begin with (usually, it takes just two years (five for a monthly manga) to be popular enough to get its own show), but hopefully, Mashima-san will allow his latest work to get the anime treatment. 😀

no news as such but from what i have heard its supposedly not very popular in japan as compared to the other streamline ones, that said though an anime adaption of this manga would be totally epic just from the sheer comedy and action

Only a 130 chapters.
Way too low for a anime to be done.At least if you want a good one.
One of the biggest problems with anime that are based on mangas are they start too soon.
They need to take a lesson from Major by having seasons or just wait longer for a anime version.
Fairy Tail is too soon to start. With only 130 chapters for manga that will likely end with 300+ chapters.
.
If this was the 1990's Bleach,Naruto,Gintama,Reborn etc... would have all went off the air as soon as the anime caught up with the manga.
Thats just what was done animes based on manga were more done for publishers to let people in Japan know about a series so they go out and buy the manga and it made money for the tv stations and anime production companies.
But when the economy in Japan went bad many years ago more anime was made a lot more and it kept anime studios working and making money even if the shows weren't rating hits.
So Bleach and Naruto are still being done.
If it was like I said the 1990's they would have ended like so many other animes did before stopping when they caught with the manga or just stopping because they figured the manga would go on longer like Slam Dunk anime ending then the manga ending 5 months later. And there was plenty for Toei to still animate.
The ratings aren't there Naruto gets 4% ratings now when the anime started in 2002 it had 7-9% ratings.
Lets talk about the high ratings wise of Shonen anime Detective Conan it gets 12-18% ratings most times.
One Piece 8-12%. Use to get higher.
Inuyasha when it was airing got 11-15%.
The highest rated anime these days is and for many years is Sazae San been on the air since 1969 has like 2000 episodes always gets 17-21% in ratings.
Dragon Ball Z back in day and now you know why Toei kept making it even though the manga was only a couple chapters ahead had 20+% ratings sometimes up to 27% thats almost like Super Bowl ratings.
Toei couldn't let those ratings go away thats why even though DB manga ended Toei went on to make Dragon Ball GT although their ratings did go down so much that they didn't want to bother with DB anime anymore.
Yu Yu Hakushio use to get high ratings in the teens even get 20% a few times.
in 1980's Maison Ikkoku got many times 20%
So did the highest rated anime ever Touch with the highest rating ever for anime of 34%.Although most episodes in the 20%.
It was said not a fact just said every person in Japan during 1985-1988 saw at least 1 episode of Maison Ikkoku and Touch.
So yeah Fairy Tail to soon to start plenty of other mangas finished that could be made into animes plenty that could get a proper anime made now like Samurai Deeper Kyo.
Do we really need another anime based on manga to start prematurely?
Anyways I'm sure there will be one soon enough though.

im sorry. that comment sounded a little pessimistic to me.
im aware that the anime wont happen until there are about 250 chapters but we are only discussing the possibility
that was a little harsh on my part. sorry

Reality always seems to be on the pessimistic side, but that's just how it is. There isn't much to discuss on the possibility of this being animated, it's just a matter of when and by whom. Fairy Tail has its own flair and it's likely to be animated at one point in time but forcing a full adaption probably isn't a great idea.
You mentioned Pumpkin Scissors, that was a good 26 episode adaption of the first few volumes of the series and it could easily go on again once there's enough material to work on. Fillers are never fun and people don't take it too well if the anime is filled with crap while waiting for the manga to progress.
Just take a look at what's being animated now, there are plenty of good ones out there with 13-26 episodes per season. If at all possible, I'd prefer Fairy Tail to be animated that way instead. Full adaptions will include a good chunk of fillers when it catches up to the manga, and that has a tendency to suck really badly. 😐

It would be great to see this adapted as long as the anime went right along with the manga. I hate it when an adapted anime basically just takes the names of the series and characters and then just comes up with an original story.

I've heard rumors that an anime adaption is going to be aired this summer, but that is, as I said, just a rumor.
Would be great though (hopefully)...

you right. just a rumor. i think this is popular enough to get a full adaption so we will probably have to wait at least another year

all of the big three (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) got full adaptions at around the 140-150 chapter point so we have a good chance of this doing well
