Hmm. This is a rather oddly-phrased poll. The first two options don't seem like many/any people would vote for them, and the third option seems like it could be broken down into a range of different options. But anyway.

I do find myself following specific mangaka more often than not, but that doesn't mean I won't try other series by new authors. It just means I'll get a lot more excited about series by an author I already know and like (and trust to write a good/entertaining story) than one I haven't read anything by before. I think that is pretty logical.

I do have authors I absolutely love and adore, though. Let's see...

Yamada Nanpei (this one I've yet to read more than a few chapters of a series by, so my admiration is based mostly on her lovely art)

I could go on, but I'll stop now. Basically, I do consciously follow specific mangaka... a lot of specific mangaka. Usually it's their art style that first draws me in. All these artists have something about them that makes their art—I think—a bit different than standard/typical cute-shoujo-art.

I also find myself loyal to certain Japanese manga magazines: I love Betsuma and Margaret, and there are quite a few titles I enjoy from Hana to Yume, and Betsucomi's got some good stuff...

Of course, for all my great and vast (?) knowledge of shoujo manga, I'm pretty much clueless outside of that demographic.
