wats echii? i keep hearing it everywhere.... im guessing hentai.. because it sounds almost like the same.
You can find more information about the genres here...
And echi according to that page is:
Possibly the line between hentai and non-hentai, ecchi usually refers to fanservice put in to attract a certain group of fans.
But it's really a broad category could go anywhere from simple fan service and a few jokes involving nudity and physical contact (not always drawn could be just implied) to some more extreme stuff... So no it's not like hentai. And as someone that reads manga you probably read at least something that could be considered ecchi, even if you didn't know at that time.

Mine are Shoujo, Yaoi, Shounen Ai, Comedy, and Drama
Other favorites: Slice Of Life, School Life, Gender Bender, Tragedy, Psychological, Romance, Mystery, Shounen, Adventure
...as you can see, I'm not too picky 😀
As long as it doesn't have the 'mature warning' label on it, I read all of that. 🙂
Unless the shoujo is a series revolving around a stupid girl with no sense of self.
I go away and suddenly the spammers are the mods. Okay, I can adjust to that, but... Gorath?! And what's up with Mam's not being the top poster?

Well, it's shounen... Actually, I'm a girl, but most of shoujo just look the same to: a girl goes to school and is in love/ falls in love with a guy. Shounen is much more interesting, most of shounen manga have fights and blood and tension... and comedy. I really like comedy.
Ok, the genres are: Shounen+Action+Drama+Comedy+some science fiction, fantasy, magic, samurai, whatever. And I can't stand any fanservice.
Hey, the world is pretty, isn't it?

No fanservice? That just sounds weird.

Hey! I'm a guy and I'll read shoujo mangas! And many them are nothing like that clichéd plot you cited =P
I'll read almost anything, actually. But my favorites tend not to be shounen titles. The mindlessness of the majority of shounen manga that I've read makes them entertaining... but not very substantial.
Shoujo, Shounen, Josei, Romance, Drama, Shounen-Ai, Yaoi, Mystery, Gender Bender , Gag, Parody 😃
I'm a girl and i started loving shounen after reading naruto and bleach 😛

I read anything with great art and a good story. Compelling characters are a must. That said, I do tend to favor seinen...
Here are the genres I read, in order of preference:
- Seinen
- Josei
- Shoujo
- Shounen
- Yuri
- Yaoi
These genres often overlap, though... For example, Yamaji Ebine's work is both josei and yuri. shrug I guess it's hard to say.
"They sicken of the calm, who knew the storm." - Dorothy Parker.
I like seinen, perhaps some shounen
but I dont mind reading shoujo, if I liked it (basara, Tokyo Crazy Paradize,Watashi no Messiah-Sama).
honestly genre doesnt matter for me if I like the story
"we are people because of other people"
"I am who I am because of who we all are"

i like any manga with comedy, good art, probably romance and probably ecchi (hehe i think that goes for most of the boys), like UnbalancexUnbalance or like Mx0
as long as the manga keeps me entertained with its jokes and got good art, it's fine with me. 😀

My favorite genre is martial arts/action and a mix of comedy.
Dragon Ball would the perfect example, it's my favorite manga. One Piece is another one of my favorites. And Rurouni Kenshin, which has stunning fight scenes. Kinnikuman is another that mixes action and comedy.
I also really like Seinen Manga, such as Battle Royale, Hellsing, and Akira.

I like shounen-ai, but comedy is good, as well as a little drama.

I don't really have a specific genre. As long as the story is compelling to me, I'll read it.

I'm interested in josei and seinen. They're much more though-provoking than shoujo or shounen. Still, I read some shounen and a lot of shoujo. But I only like shounens and shoujos if they stray away from the sterotypical shoujo - dumb/cute heroine, or typical shounen - weakling becomes strong etc. But shoujo is still somewhat better than shounen, in my point of view, since it does explore the emotions of characters more than shounen. Comedy, horror, martial-arts etc. all those other genres don't matter that much to me.
