Personally, I'll read any genre. I don't look for a specific genre when reading manga. I just look for an intersting storyline/plot. A specific genre doesn't guarantee a good plot.

If it wasn't obvious enough from my sig, I am often inclined to read as many genderbenders I can find, lol. 😛

😮 Same here!!!
I like a balance of art and plot, but I definetly prefer a good plot!!!
A good plot makes a really good manga!!!
A bad plot makes a really bad manga!!! 😃

I think romantic comedy is my favorite genre (leaning towards the comic side as opposed to romance). I also like fantasy action (though reading too much shounen manga can get tedious) and well laid-out historical series. If these stories, contain a little ecchi, I don't mind, but I'm bothered; e.g., I like Mahou Sensei Negima (sometimes the ecchi moments are important for the story, while others are relatively secluded from the other ecchi moments), but sometimes I think "wtf?" because of the excessiveness (like spamming ~20 ecchi (many of which are moderate ecchi and not just light ecchi) moments in a chapter). Anyhow, I'll consider reading any kind of series if I consider either the plot, comedy, characters, even purpose, or some other aspect (nostalgia can make a story very enjoyable -- e.g., One Piece is in some ways reminiscent of Saturday morning cartoons 😀 ) of the story good as long as I consider that the other aspects, which might be moderate or week, don't interfere too much with what I enjoy -- although I'm not a big fan of shoujo, I've really enjoyed some shoujo and josei titles.

Romantic Comedy or just plain comedy. The humor actually has to be apparent though and not just a few bits and pieces scattered throughout the series. Stuff I don't like are crazy ecchi mangas with a tiny thread of a 'plot' to keep it all together. Ugh...
