I absolutely hate it. Oh, be sure to say why you love it or hate it. I hate it because of the reasons I stated in the Most Badass Female Characters thread. I don't feel like typing my reasons again.

I used to watch it, a couple of years ago. That was before I discovered manga. Well, and actual anime. I liked it then....it's been awhile....I was.....twelve? thirteen? Eleven?

And couldn't you copy and paste from that thread?

I have to say I love it, basically for the beautiful fighting scenes, I have actually met a lot of martial artist that like the show for this same reason.

The fact that they can portrait real chinese gong fu in a superior way than asian animators just amaze me.

Clothing and sceneries are also pretty good, and the dialogs are pretty funny.

The general idea of the story is pretty good also.

But in the other hand the plot is very plain, and the fact that the avatar is not an "avatar" (more like a Bodhisattva kind of) annoys me.

Animation is good. Fight scenes are beautifully choreographed and sensational. The Plot is solid, although it is pretty predictable.

I love it, I think its better than most animes. (speaking from an action perspective)
Yeah, I said it

Avatar is actual anime. Just because it isn't from Japan, doesn't mean it can't be anime. Anyways... I actually like Avatar. Why? because it's one of the few good shows left on Nick. I think that the story is good and the animation was done pretty well.

I fell immediately in love with this show after only watching 1 episode (not the first one, somewhere in the middle I think). It has witty dialog, characters with real depth and personality, the fighting scenes were executed very fluidly and the voice acting very good. However, I can only manage to watch random episodes because I don't often have time due to extracurricular lessons outside of school. 😢

btw, I'm older than you, xombiemonkey. So I don't really understand why you think it's so bad that it tries to include a younger audience. Sure, it doesn't have the sex or violence you usually read. But that doesn't cheapen the show at all because I believe a good story can easily convey what it wants to it's viewers without relying on unnecessary fanservice...

I just think it's way too lighthearted. None of the characters really have dark backstories or anything and they haven't killed anyone off. I just think the story would be better if it was a bit darker.

Well, of course the plot could be better. Thats cause everything has room for improvement.
Also, I think thats just a matter of opinion. I mean, everyone has their own favorite pizza, as well as their own favorite story type.
Ya digg?

Soka and Katara's mother was killed in war, Aank never had a family, but all his friends and the monk that raised him were killed by the fire army. And for most of the show it seems that Suko's mom was murdered by Suko's father while protecting his son. And Azula blames Suko for her mothers dead .....yeap..thats not dark back stories...just normal teenager daily life.

hmm. Youv may have a point. I think I overlooked those because of the overall tone of the story being so light.

you know something i find that most anime has no real wit (or real sarcasm) in the dialog. they only have those puns that i really dont get. But avatar has wit (and sarcasm expielly the sarcasm!!) in it which is my favorite thing about it.

oh and i'd like to point out blood bending and katara going all "im going to kill you" on zuko.

well its a kids show so they do have to be a little vague about some of the dark stuff. the creators even said before the puppetmaster episode that it was gonna be really dark. personally didn't scare me or anything, but for the usual tone of the show it was pretty shocking. just gotta filter out a bir of the kids stuff to see whats behind it
