What's your opinion on older manga, Like from the 80s and the 90s?
Personally I kind of prefer the older mangas due to their difference in plot and drawing style from today...well maybe not plot, does it differ much? 🙂

I'm not a huge fan of some of the art styles from older manga, I really hate the side burns the most. However that doesn't stop me from reading some of them like Dragon Quest: Dai. I really like that manga and I've reread it a couple times.

I don't really view them as differently as the ones now. Manga is just manga to me.

I like them better than the current books in terms of story-telling (art). They are usually simpler in terms of format, with a max of 8 panels on each page and with each scene confined within one panel (note that I do not mean 4-koma/gag books). Nowadays, one panel takes up a whole page. In the worst case scenario, a 18 page chapter of a shonen manga could have up to 6 double-page splash pages, which effectively reduced the amount of pages to tell the story to 12 pages. I used to be able to spend 15 minutes on 1 chap. Now I could breeze through it within 5, because instead of a fight scene that flows well and shows all the punches and blocks, all I get is a few dramatic shots of the fight. Sorta like a kodak moment.

Oh well, I guess story-telling technique have evolved since the 90s. Them's the breaks. Hahahaha. (cries)

Ditto. Though sometimes - when I feel like reading a typical non-harem, beat 'em up shounen - I do find the plotlines of older manga more riveting. I used to think the art was bad, but it has it's own charm.

Ehh... I don't like the art of older manga... >_>... but occasionally I'll find old stuff that I like here and there....

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

Though I tend to not like the artwork as much, I still enjoy them if they have a good plot or interesting characters 🤣

Example: Black Jack (Osamu Tezuka) is one of my favorites, even though it is so old

I'm not a big fan of the art, but the plots are amazing. Not necessarily original, but most are more thoroughly developed and deeper. Much of the manga these days make me feel like they're low quality, mass produced products. 😔

Love them hardcore. I love the art, the stories, and just the simple charm they tend to have. It's the same with anime. I find myself watching far more older series then all the new moe crap that tends to be out today. Osama Tezuka is my idol. I love Black Jack. 😃

Well sometimes they're good but I don't usually read them.
It's usually because the Art is not to my liking. It's not very cute and it's occasionally sloppy.
I'm not saying it's always like that but in most cases it is.
Even if the plot and story are really good, I can't ignore the art if it's horrible.

I don't like them much.
The art is one thing, but some of the plots are not great either.

Nothing in particular. An interesting story is an interesting story, regardless of whether it was written a century ago or two days back.

Take Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken, for example. Really old and with a bizarre art style - but definitely one of my favourite action + adventure manga.
Or Doubutsu no Oishasan and Eroica Yori Ai wo Komete. Try finding a modern-day shoujo manga which can reach that level of sheer utter hilarity and silly fun. It's just not possible.
