I dunno, the age thing kind of makes sense.
It's kind of silly if some young boy leaves a huge nasty review on yaoi just cause he's immature. Or any review on smut.
But there are some manga aimed towards certain age groups (demographics).
Age and sex make a big difference.
You guys are making such a big fuss over nothing.
It's not discrimination, it's normal. 🙄
Such reviews would most likely be deleted.
And people will have even more of a reason to hide thier real age.
Also, it would clutter~
But that's only my unreasonable aesthetic wishes.
And no, it is not normal.
Also, there are more and more 14yr olds having sex these days.
Even younger. Does that make them more mature though?
I think not.

Maturity has nothing to do with age, nor does personal taste with gender. If you think the review is not quite intelligent, why to follow it? If you tought you'd like the manga, but you didn't, then just look for another.
Really, it's quite hard to associate taste with age/gender... It's very easy to find 16-yo teens who love old music and 40-yo adults who love pop, for an example.
Maybe it would be an interesting option, but, IMO, it's rather useless. And, as said before, if it bothers you so much, simply pick up the best reviews and look at their profiles.
Exactly.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Yes it is easy to find a 16 year old who likes old music and a 40 year old who likes pop but as i said there the exception there not the majority.
I just fail to see what the big deal is... people are blowing this way out of proportion. Its just a suggestion to help some people. you can choose to pay attention to the age and gender or you can choose not to. In the end its still your choice.
You guys took a simple suggestion and made it in to some discrimination thing when its not.
All this does is put the information there its still the readers choice whether to discriminate or not against a age / gender

What happened to being anonymous on the net... no one really needs to know your gender and your age, if you don't like a comment, you can easily just ignore it. No need to know anything more then what the user posts.

This is SO not true! 🤣
Of course there are plenty of exceptions, but overall and for the most part someone who is 25 will be more mature than someone who is 13, and guys prefer action/adventure manga while girls prefer romance manga. For anyone who missed it the first time, this is just a generalization, which is true overall but which will also have many individual exceptions.
There IS some correlation between age & maturity, and between personal taste & gender, but it's a correlation, not a direct and absolute relationship.
Back on topic....I don't think it's practical to institute it here, but it would be interesting to see, for example, "95% of the people who rated this series 7 or higher were girls under age 15". 😃

I think your idea would be better. IMDb has a similar feature and it works well there (uuuuh... Actually I just find it fun to compare my own ratings with people from different age groups).
Okay, I should correct my statement. Maturity/personal taste has little to do with age/gender. As yourself said, it's just generalization, and could be associated with a lot of cultural bounds as well (there are people from all around the world on internet).

thats kind of the point i have been trying to get across but it would require more coding to implement the feature than what i suggested but it would be ever better if it was actually put in place instead of a simple age / gender thing.

Uhh, age and gender isn't required by us though...
And there's basically 0% chance of us implementing something like this

The method suggested has a few too many problems to be useful (in my opinion, anyway). I think a better approach to this problem would be if people would, in their comments, suggest the age group that they think would most appreciate the series. Of course, this has potential problems as well, such as that people will have different opinions concerning age appropriateness and such (although, theoretically, if enough people post their opinion, you should become reasonably informed to decide whether you want to read it or not, and, after all, all comments are just opinions anyway), and that there's no clear way to implement this--I mean, you could suggest it to people, but it's entirely up to them whether or not they do it, meaning that few people will do so, so there will be fewer opinions to base your judgment upon. But, as far as practicality goes, I think it's more viable than the original suggestion.
