Has seeing the anime ever made you want to read the manga?

If the manga is created from anime like Code Geass then I really wouldn't care much about it at all since it's the same thing just in a crappier form (for some reason the manga version of anime tend to turn out worse...).
I'd have to agree with this, from the experience with this I had, Mai-HiME. It was a whole different story in the manga since the anime wasn't finished yet when the manga was being written. The anime was much better.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

The first time that happened to me I watched the anime for My-Hime and then read Mai-hime manga. And as expected the manga was way, way, way(allow me to emphasize the way) better in my opinion

Really? They were running concurrently, and I believe the anime came first but wasn't finished. I rather liked the anime better.

Happened to me most memorably with Azumanga Daioh and Hajime no Ippo. Nowadays I just skip the anime and go straight to the manga or light novel, especially if it's easily available. I can't think of any manga that's made me want to watch the anime though. The process doesn't work both ways.

I usually read the manga if an anime series is ended abruptly because the manga counterpart is still ongoing. Some of the series I'm currently reading right now are Hunter x Hunter and some of the works of Kaitani Shinobu and Nobuyuki Fukumoto.
But I could turn this question conversely too. If I happen to love a manga, then I won't hesitate to watch the anime adaptation.

Yeah, for example it happened with...Air Gear... 🤢

Happened to me with Flame of Recca and Hajime no Ippo... picked up Ippo after watching the first few episodes of the anime. Too long, though... got kinda silly.
After reading the manga, I just can't watch the anime... it's too boring. I know what's gonna happen next.

yes, that happened to me when I was watching Bleach and then I realized that it had lots of fillers so I switched into manga and never regretted it.

Often, I like *watching *action series better than reading them, so I'll usually watch the anime first. If I like it, then I'll move on to the manga and give it a try 🙂
I way prefer manga to anime, so if I notice an anime that looks good I'll usually try the manga first.
Although I watched the Gunslinger Girl anime and loved it so much that I had to try the manga... what a disappointment. 😔

This. Except I don't really care if it's action or not. But if I discover the anime before manga, or I don't feel like reading the manga yet, I watch the anime.
This way, if I like the anime, I figured that I'd really enjoy the manga. However, if it's the other way around, I'll probably find the anime not living up to the manga and drop it. Unless the anime is longer than 26 episodes, I enjoy watching the anime. Plus, there's music in anime, which you can't get in manga. It's a whole different experience.
Shows that I've seen anime first:
- Trinity Blood
- Basalisk
- Nabari No Ou
- Fullmetal Alchemist
- Death Note
- Natsume Yuujinchou
- Skip Beat
- Death Note
- Mushishi
- Beck
- Nodame Cantabile
- Gokusen
- Tsubasa RC
- Prince of Tennis (okay, there's always exceptions to the episode limit)
- xxxHolix
Yeah, the list goes on... 🤨

I usually just try to get things in whatever the original format is, though I do sometimes get on an anime kick and watch a few then dig around for the manga versions. The only real exception is when the original is unavailable to me, like MAJOR. I did read everything of that that was scanlated though. I used to go from anime to manga a lot more but these days I usually jsut don't bother with animes.

Only if the anime wasn't satisfying. Then I would stick to the manga.
(in this case Elfen Lied)

yeah definitely, this happened with soul eater for me which was a good one. And then I foolishly tried Mai hime after watching the anime, and was disappointed.
So, anime can make you want to read the manga, but it's just a hit or miss on whether or not you like it better or not.
Actually, once I think about it, this happens to me a lot... Claymore, Elfin Lied, Code Geass...
