hmm, wasting your living expenses online on a book that if arrives, arrives in a few weeks, or getting it in one hour by clicking on a link on mangatraders....
though choice.

if you really are a true fan of the manga series,i think you should atleast buy one to show support
i watch and download mangas online too,but this is just to catch up to the latest chapter since the manga is slow
i also bought the manga i like as a collection to support the mangaka
in my country each manga cost about RM4.50 - RM5.00 (chinese)
approx 1-2 usd

Well it's not been edited by me anyway :-) Been looking on amazon for that volume of berserk ... for some reason every other volume is available but that one is hard to get without having to wait a few weeks or indefinitely ...

It is expensive! You'd have to spend about 100+ dollars in the US to read an entire series if you were to buy it.
But here's the thing. Only Tankobans are available here. If they were magazine subscriptions, like in Japan, then I bet that there would be more support. Like here, you can read a novel with the same amount of story for much less money.
Buying manga for the most part isn't worth it here.

So far the only manga i've bought is those which i've enjoyed reading as scanlations. Problem is, i don't tend to read them as i've already read them >_< so whenever i buy a manga, it's almost always to support the mangakas.

Yeah, manga is way too expensive. I've spent more money than I can even count on buying series. I want to support the mangaka... but sometimes it's just too much money, especially when I'm reading a series with 10+ volumes. I'm in Japan now and I can get manga for $1 - $2 easily. I understand that translators, and editors need to be payed... but that doesn't me than I, or my wallet have to like it >.> Besides, I find many times that scanlators do a better job of translating/editing than these companies do!

If you think manga is expensive, try being into games or movies.

I agree Manga is expensive. But I guess it's expensive because it's a picture book.
At the same price, I can buy a 300 pages paperback fantasy novel which takes me 3 days to finish reading it.
Oh well, a lot of things are expensive in life which you wish they are cheaper.
