It is important to know. How could you just not know your ancestry?
The fact that so many people don't care leaves me really dead inside.

I believe in God and evolution. They are two seperate things. I don't understand why people think it's a problem? The whole bible could be a pile of bs stories for all I care but I still believe in God. I mean you can science it out all you would like but eventually there is no answer, and I see that answer as God.

But understanding how we developed can lead to a lot of predictions about the human race as well as solutions for problems we have now. No idea how but I'm sure of it.

I really don't care.
We're here now.
So what does it matter of how we came to be?
Like, seriously, it already happened, it's done and over with.
Why should I care? My life isn't going to drastically change or change at all with that information. If I find out it's true about evolution, then am I going to suddenly turn into a primate? IIf I find out it's true that God created us, will we disappear? No, nothing will happen. Just my opinion on it.
We should care more about our future and spend our time on that and improving lives.

Kind of, it would be cool to know though.
I do want to know the people in my family line from the past.
Were they Royalty? Beggars? Some inventor? Part of a Mafia..?

It would be interesting if I knew, but it doesn't really matter to me.

Sometimes I think about humans so much that it hurts my brain, since I can't draw conclusions. So it's best not to think about such things! For now, I'll worry about the future. *__*

Hehehe, the lack of concern also depresses me, but the fact that you said this makes me want to respond.

Only read the first two pages and this one and I am disappointed. Is there really that little interest? I understand the fact that knowledge about the subject would lead to nothing per se but is there really very little interest among you all? It's pretty interesting to me. I don't see it as looking back; I see it as rewinding the video tape after I finished a movie just so I can find the foreshadowing and technique the writer used to tie the story together and make one giant masterpiece. I don't expect to change anyone's mind, but a different opinion never hurt. I want to ask you all something though: what knowledge would enhance your life? Most of you don't care because you find it useless (at least that's what I'm seeing), so what is meaningful to you and what gave it meaning? I find that there is meaning in everything, but meaning that is not applicable to everyone.

I believe in God and in Science, I DON'T see them as separate (like peanut butter and jelly, different but not separate).

PS: I find it humourous that the first religious references, apart from God, were references to Christianity (Adam in the Garden, Jesus in a user-name, Bible).

Not really.

It just seems like a waste of time to debate about how humans came to be- is the Bible telling the truth or does science have the proof... it goes on and on and on.

I mean, I do wonder about it sometimes, but not to a point where it would annoy the geebs out of me.

It's very interesting, I'm surprised more people aren't interested. Then again we're a pretty dumbed down, cynical and indifferent generation (unless it pertains to our immediate enjoyment or lack thereof).

Also, I am also disappointed with people's lack of enthusiasm for anything outside the range of their immediate attention... A lot of people find it a waste of time, energy and effort to think about complex things... well that's just not true. Thinking makes your smater. It's kind of like running on a treadmill, one can say that all that running and you still end up in the same spot makes it useless and futile but you're doing it to build stamina and muscle... same goes with using your brain.

Though I personally don't believe that God put us on Earth. I mean, not the God everyone is thinking of. I'm sure there can be a higher being or force that literally makes the world go around and time go backwards... uh what was it called again... oh yes physics.

Though if I were to believe in a God, he would reside in the core of the Earth. That's why when we die, we go back to the ground. Not to mention the energy of the Earth comes from within it, not to mention the newest lifeforms always comes from the deepest depths of the ocean. Could just be God sitting in his little chair making freaky looking cells that will one day turn into a kangaroo.

So... I probably believe in a God. I don't believe the God that is from religions though. My own personal God I guess.

Interest =/= Matter

One can be interested in something without it having profound significance on one's sense of self.

To me it is interesting, but Homo sapiens sapiens are not the only animals out there that should have it's origins looked into. So, it's origins do not particularly matter to me.

Besides, there are better/more interesting creatures like Homo floresiensis to keep me occupied.

It doesn't matter to me where or what we came from.

I don't understand why just because one finds it fascinating that they believe everyone else should. I also don't particularly appreciate the assumption that just because I don't share someone's certain fascinations, that I'm automatically thrown in the same cesspool of disdainful dimwits.

This.

Just because I don't care about something like this, it doesn't mean that I'm ignorant, cynical, and dumbed-down. >.>
You can be as fascinated as you want with it, but when people don't share your views, don't generalize them and call them stupid.

Not really. I believe that theory of a woman in Africa, named Eve by scientists, was born a human to primates and all her children had the same mutation. Seems more logical than just appearing from nowhere. I do believe that there were other forces at work in it though, just evolution was half scientific and half religious.

I think it's interesting but not terribly important. I mean we've lived this long without really knowing... and it hasn't really effected us... I'm not very interested in what is called "prehistory", when we start writing is where I start getting interested.
