I avoid shoujo manga like the plague-- I HATE the art (where guys looks like complete emotionless ice-blocks and the adolescent females and women look like 5 year-olds). I don't like seinen-yuri, and most yuri because the plots are usually of poor quality. I try to avoid tragic stories, but that's not always possible! I don't like PWPs/smut where characters interact without any real affinity...

Shounen-ai and yaoi all the way for me! : D

Hmm, I can't say I really dislike any genre since I'm open to all.
Genres I tend to avoid are harem, loli, and shotacon. But I've read some great titles from each, so I can't really say I dislike those genres, it's just hard to find good titles for them.

But the only genre I openly avoid like a plague is tragedy. It's not even that i don't like it, I've tried it, too sad. xD

not that i hate the genre to death, but ... theres no but, i just dont like it xD
and hentai.. eerrmm i read one and... it wasnt the scenes but the "plot" that i didnt like.. so, i guess i dont like it either...

and shojo ai.... im not into this kind of genre.. but maybe someday ill change my mind... it happend the same with shounen ai and yaoi 😛

oh and mecha! well i say i dont like mecha.. but i looove the anime of gundam 00(just too cool hehe), and eureka 7, and some other titles...
i guess the whole anime is good enough for me to watch them.. but is not bcz of the "mecha" factore that i like them..

its all about exceptions after all 🙂

I just hate that genre to death.

Others would be Shotacon/Lolicon, Harem, smut (is really a plague for my mind), shoujo-ai/Yuri, Mecha, and Yaoi (Used to love this genre).

Shounen-ai is somewhat between in LOVE 'n' HATE situation. 😕

I rarely read mangas with Mecha, Hentai, sci-fi, shota, &/or loli.

I'm okay with all the other genres. 🙂

EDIT: I'm not a fan of shoujo anymore.

oddly enough, I don't like sports, horror, or most mysteries.
And as expected, I also stay away from yaoi/shounen-ai, and shota/lolicon.

The ones I stay away from as much as possible;
Shotacon, Gender Bender, Harem, Shounen Ai, Yaoi, Smut, Lolicon, and Mecha.

I don't mind these as much, but still don't particularly enjoy them;
Sport, Martial Arts, Hentai, School Life, and Ecchi.

These 'genres' are not definite, but I tend to avoid the top 5, especially shotacon and lolicon (those are just sick).

Besides that I tend to read reviews and plot summaries before deciding to read a manga. It would be a shame to miss a great read just because someone put it in a genre like Shounen-ai when the BL is actually more a sidenote (the same for every other genre).

My release filter are Martial Arts, Harem, Shounen, Mecha, Smut, Shoujo Ai, Shounen Ai, Shotacon, Lolicon, Hentai, Ecchi, Doujinshi, Yaoi, and Yuri.

I can tolerate a little of those, but most of them is not something I'd like to read.
