I'm looking for a shoujo romance manga, but I have a few specific requests. I don't want the girl to be indecisive.. it'd be better if she could make up her mind, unlike most shoujo heroines. I don't care if she's weak or stupid, as long as she knows what she wants and what she's going to do about. also, no fantasy / sci-fi / supernatural. I want it to be at least remotely realistic. and no love at first site, please. it'd be better if the people knew each other a little bit first before falling in love. and umm.. I like straightforward / honest characters too. smut or no smut.. it doesn't matter. just no hentai please.

some examples..
I like how in Tenshi Ja Nai!!, the characters know each other really well before falling in love. and I like how straightforward Akira is in Ai wo Utau Yori Ore ni Oborero!, but Mizuki's indecisiveness at the beginning of the manga made me want to puke. I also really liked Mars too, which I'm feeling somehow fits with my request.

jeez I feel picky today. D: btw, sorry if there's already a topic like this. if there is, someone please point me in that direction. I looked and didn't find anything like this.

edit - does such a shoujo exist? I guess other genres are ok too. but no shounen harems, please. =P

Hm...That IS really hard. Haha.

Doubt!! It's kinda "love at first sight" thing, but you later find out why.

The girl reminds him of the person he gave his first time to.

Asa mo, Hiru mo, Yoru mo The girl is kind of hesitant, but again, there's a GOOD reason behind that.
Mucha Kucha Daisuki That might work as well....o.O

Yeah...that's all that I can think of right now.....and HOPEFULLY they'll work for you.....if not, so sorry! >.>

Suzuka is a good one. The girl is definitely not indecisive, and there is only a one sided love at first sight

Thanks for your suggestions. ^_^

I've read Asa mo, Hiru mo, Yoru mo before and really liked it. ^_^ I started reading Doubt!! before, but didn't get the first couple of pages, so I stopped. I'll pick it up again though since I don't think I made it through more than 3 pages. xP I'll also try Mucha Kucha Daisuki.

I saw the Suzuka anime and it was like.. torture. I could watch it and read a book at the same time (even though I was watching w/ subs) and I didn't feel like I was missing much.. since it was mostly whatever-his-name being all like "Suzuka.. but how can I compete with an idealized dead guy?!" o_o maybe the manga is better though. =P i'll give it a try.

thanks again for your help. i knew this was kind of a long shot, so finding even one good series is awesome. XD

Oh, Mucha Kucha, is kinda love at first sight, again....that's what was wrong with it! I kept thinking that something didn't go along with your ideal, but, again, it kinda explains why it was love at first sight later on in the series.....

Suzuka is the most indecisive girl I've ever seen. She's the very definition.

as long as there's a reason for it, I guess it's ok.

I just don't really like it when there's like.. the playboy-type guy suddenly see a girl for the first time and he's suddenly "transformed" and in love. or when a girl meets a guy and is like "wow he's really hot" and then 2 pages later, they're all like "but I don't want him to meet up with that other girl because I love him!" if you get what I mean..

Maybe Chiyou Yo Hana Yo ?
They knew each other before falling in love..
A smutty comedy by yushihata yuki (love her^^)

Her female heroines are more than just decisive, the go and jump on the guy they want!
This one is a little different though, and the heroine is more inoccent like..
Oh, wait.. It's josei I think.. But still cute and not too sirius. 😁

Kare Kano
The main character is anything but indecisive lol. Also they get to know each other a bit before they get together (even if it is in montage).

Akuma to Dolce came to mind when I read your request. Mayuri's a pretty straightforward girl, and the series is a lot of fun. Plus all the desserts they eat... yum. Karakuri Odette by the same author is also interesting. The heroine is unique in that she's an android, so her approach to situations is somewhat different to a normal human's. I guess these both have non-realistic elements (demons and androids) but they're both a lot of fun.

Hmm... Akagami no Shirayukihime? I think the characters are pretty likable and believable. The premise is somewhat cliché, but carried out nicely, and the main heroine is refreshingly independent and resourceful. Ah, though it is a fantasy setting...

I've been recommending HIDAKA Banri a lot because I love her so much. I think V.B.Rose and Tears of a Lamb could fit what you're looking for with the decisive girl. (I Hate You More Than Anyone not so much, but I still would recommend it as a sweet and fun shoujo manga with lots of interesting characters). Those are all licensed, so look for them at a bookstore or library 😀

Anything by MOTOMI Kyousuke (it looks like you have Beast Master on your reading list) will have a pretty decisive heroine. I loved Purikyu.

Um, haha—Maniattemasu! has a pretty decisive heroine...to the point of inspiring annoyance and fear in the other characters. It's by MORINAGA Ai so it's not to be taken seriously—more of a parody of various shoujo manga themes. Hilarious, though. May not be what you're looking for...

Oedo wa Nemuranai! is a historical setting, but otherwise pretty realistic-ish. And the character development is great. It's also an older series, so the art has that old-school look.

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan is a shounen series, but as an almost-exclusively-shoujo-manga reader, I enjoy it a lot. Another funny, straight-forward girl (girls are more decisive when they're not the protagonists, I notice). Not a lot of real romance so far though?

Oh, Shiritsu! Bijinzaka Joshi Koukou and other works by YOKOYAMA Mayumi have decisive, cool heroines. They're certainly a lot different than the multitudes of "average, plain but spunky girl" in many shoujo manga.

Hope these suggestions help!! They're not all perfectly matched to your request, but they're a lot of fun anyway!

o_o sorry. but, seriously, thank you so much. <3 these suggestions are awesome. ^_^

I read Mucha Kucha Daisuki, and it was probably one of the best series I've ever read, even though I used up the rest of my tissues. so touching & sad. 🙁

^-^ I'm glad you liked it! It was probably one of the first manga that actually got me tearing....crying is a bit far fetched for me. xD (No, it's not you, I'm just a bit indifferent like that....hahaha.)
