Description
From Go! Comi:
In the play of life, all Hikaru Takabayashi wanted was to be part of the scenery. Tormented by jealous schoolmates ever since she appeared in a famous commercial in grade-school, Hikaru transfers to a prestigious all-girls' academy where she hopes to settle down to a quiet life of anonymity. But when her new roommate turns out to be the super-popular TV idol Izumi Kido, Hikaru finds herself thrown smack in the spotlight's glare once more!

And as if living with a celebrity wasn’t bad enough, Hikaru discovers that there’s more to Izumi than her “good girl” image—she’s a he! And this is only the first of Izumi's many dangerous secrets! Now Hikaru’s the unwilling star player in a madcap tale of deception, abduction, humiliation and blackmail…you know—the usual romantic stuff.

Typical Shoujo Manga by topboy on May 28th, 2009, 7:18am

The books said 16+ but it's surely shoujo, typical shoujo manga.
Main female character look so familiar suzuka + ouran host club?
I feel that main female character are lack of unique characteristic, just so plain, indecisive same as 80% of shoujo manga in market. It would be better if mangaka add something (ex. strong will, work hard, vision) and show it to reader from time to time.
Anyway it have touching moment (only main couple) and you can enjoy read it till it happyend.

This manga was one of the best I have read. While the story line was fantastical, the characters were wonderful which made it all seem totally realistic. The plot had an ease to the momentum while not being too slow. The character development was wonderful. All in all excellent art, storyline, and characters (not to mention cute). Loved it!

good, good stuff by turnip head on December 27th, 2008, 9:14pm

lovely read. the hero was imperfect- i loved that. he was charming, in his own way. the heroine grew. that's a surprise in shoujo. really. the story was fun to read as well. i really enjoyed this one.

Heart-warming by Leatrix on November 30th, 2008, 6:19am

This series was so sweet! ^_^

Yes, the plot has been done before, there may not be much background on the characters and there are some plot holes to be found. However, it just has this charm...and I found that I like it a lot!

I agree with the others that the characters' dreams were kind of sudden, there weren't much foreshadowing or indications about them, but when I read it I wasn't bothered at all, as I was too immersed in happiness and fluffy feelings xD

And about the teacher...I think that they both had moved on. Perhaps the author could have elaborated more on that but I was ok with it. The main pairing didn't become too boring once they're together (which IMHO often happens in other series), although for some reason I personally liked it more when they weren't together. heh.

I actually read some reviews that said the ending to the series is going to be disappointing, so I didn't have such a high expectation for the ending. That said there were things that could be improved...but mainly because I didn't want the series to end as I finished it in one day!

hmm by lily_kitty15 on November 11th, 2008, 4:58pm

will it was a nice though i prefer to see more coupling in mangas then only a few. i don't like how many that like the main characters dont a partner will this happens in many manga but the ending i think was a bit too fast i wanted 2-3 more chapters like what was Izumi doing the the time hew was missing. anyway it was a great manga until the ending.

very good! by lynn101 on September 20th, 2008, 3:29pm

it was actually really good and i enjoyed it
the characters were awesome. i really liked how the relationship between the two characters progressed.
but what really dissapointed was the ending...i felt it was so rushed and it was just another crappy ending to a good story.

great! by musicalmaria25 on June 16th, 2008, 6:50pm

This series was very good and entertaining. It was like everything that you, the reader, was rooting for actually happened and didn't take a painfully long time to do so. Yeah, there are some bad things, but it is still a must read, because the good overrides the bad.

So so... by ffleur on May 17th, 2008, 12:34pm

The series ended and I have that feeling that there's so much missing... unsettled to tell the truth... as if this series had to end abruptly... The ending wasn't convincing at all, which makes me fell mad about it. Although the main plot isn't quite original, I started to like the main couple... but "DUH!" Their relationship wasn't well developed at all! ...and what about the story with the sensei? No comments... and since when Takabayashi wanted so much to become an actress? At least if the secrets about her childhood could've been better explored... it would make the plot better and gives us that feeling that it was fate, they were meant to be.
I'm not trying to be harsh here but... this was a series that had everything to become............... but never became!
Nah! It was quite entertaining since I sprained my foot and I have to stay home for a week... at least I forgot the pain for a while.

At least, thanks to Molenir comparing the awesome Skip Beat! to Never Give Up! made me feel curious about it and now I think I'll give it a try... ^__^'

Not Very Good by Molenir on May 13th, 2008, 6:38pm

I always have a problem with blackmail, and the way this series starts, and goes for so long, with the main character being blackmailed by the guy, really bothers me. It takes what otherwise would be a great story, on par with Never Give Up, and Skip Beat, and turns it into a story that has to work to even come close.
