The first generation is definitely my favorite. I remember being in elementary school when pokemon was all the rage... I watched every episode of the TV show, played the games, collected the cards, went to the movie, bought the pikachu tamagotchi, and all that jazz. And I remember when it first came out, and booster packs were six dollars... And those gold-plated cards they had at fast food restaurants... And that cereal with pokemon-shaped marshmallows... And the pokemon-shaped macaroni and cheese... Ah, those were the days, huh? As a matter of fact, I still have all my cards (first gen only)--just you wait, they will be worth money someday! ...No really, they will! ...That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
I liked the yellow game the best; the screen would change to the match the town name's color when you entered one, and you could get all three starters without having to trade. Plus, the pikachu followed your dude around--I don't care if it was a lame gimmick, I still think it's cool! Gold/Silver was also neat, because you could go to both Johto and Kanto.

Gold/Silver. Played and completed both - I also played Blue/Red/Yellow, but I liked the improved graphics/slightly more Pokemon.
These days I'm totally lost, though. I was watching my neighbor play the newest Pokemon game (I don't even know what it was called), and he started rattling off all these names I had no idea about. It made me a little depressed. I used to know the name/type of every Pokemon.
Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?

Getting both red and blue with the cable to transfer over to make sure you could capture all 151. There goes my allowance.
If I had a polar bear as a pet I would have to name him Beary White.
red/blue ftw
silver/gold/crystal were good too, but I only used the old pokemons when I played them.
the extra pokemons after that are just ridiculous and pathetic

Red and bluuuuuue...
Afterward it was the same game with different pokemons so it just didn't seem as good.

First Gen, Yellow...There are only 151 pokemons!!!
And I remember all the names, which I stupidly brag about when I'm drunk.
Note: No one in my circle of friends remember any of the pokemon, so my nerdiness stands out, just a bit.

1st and 2nd generation were both good. After that, it went down the drain.
