anyways though the main match itself wasn't great the extra time match was and no matter which way you look at it Spain deserved that. though i feel sorry for the dutch for loosing at the finals again but that kind of kung fu football didn't convince me that the needed to win. the only dutch play i really feel great sorry for is Robben cause he played brilliantly too bad he didn't get a goal.

I wish that Xavi should have scored that goal, though iniesta is fine he played well it just that Xavi has helped the team through out the tournament it feels that he needed a goal for his hard work.

A victory for football! If Netherlands had won after the cynical filth of the first half it would have been a travesty... Now hopefully we can maybe go back to the way Netherlands used to play. Open, expansive and beautiful 😛

When you have a dutch legend like Cryuff rooting for the other team you know something is wrong.

Sadly Webb didn't have the balls to show a straight red in a WC final if he did this might have been a much better game...

Netherlands were crowded in their own box for the whole match, especially the first half. They didn't create lots of dangerous plays to the opponents as Spain didn't leave any space opened. And Spain controlled the ball better. They didn't have great finish, but the way they played is frankly better. So Spain deserves to win this whole thing.

The Dutch were a disgrace. Bruce Lee might have been proud of their kung-pow rib-fracturing ability, but Johann Cruyff would be covering his face in shame. Wesley Sneijder and Giovanni Van Bronkhorst are the only two in orange that have impressed me throughout this WC (along with maybe the keeper and Kuyt on rare occasions), the rest of them were just cynical in the final.

It's quite ironic, that the Spanish, who are made up of mostly Barcelona players, who all graduated from La Masia (Barca football academy), which modeled itself after Ajax Amsterdam and Cruyff's methods, won it against the very nation that invented their current style of football.

It might not have been a great final until the beginning of extra-time (I fully blame the Dutch for ruining the first 90 minutes.), but the best team won. Spain encompass the purity of the beautiful game. In the modern day where kids are taught to be physical and constantly lob long balls into the penalty box (EPL), it's nice to see actual passing and technique win out. IMHO, they deserve the cup purely for the masterclass of possession football they showed against an in-form Germany in the semi-finals.

Only thing that beat Spain winning WC was Diego Forlan winning the Golden Ball. Fully deserved, imho. I didn't rate Uruguay at all before this tournament started, but I'm glad they made me eat humble pie. Forlan was immense!!

I'm still disappointed that Van Bommel, a.k.a the fucking Taliban of football, didn't get red-carded. (I know it was his job to break up play, but he did that with way more class back in his Barcelona days... dunno how he ended up in his current form)
Would've been perfect if he mistimed a tackle and took out Robben by mistake.
Robben could still be a legend in the fashion industry, though. He's obviously lighter than the lightest of supermodels, looking at the way he goes down (maybe not in the final, but every match prior)

If you analyze the whole World Cup Netherlands were "helped" by the refs. a lot more than Spain.
