i know, yet another romance plea.. sorry. x3

well, what i'm looking for is two people that meet during an unusual situation, and then (preferably) fall for each other, whether right after or later on. i know that those words are objective and "strange" differs from person to person, so i'm looking for a tiny bit above the norm to extremely strange.

my example (even though it's slightly off, this is what inspired this~): in HEN, two characters meet when a building starts to collapse, and they're buried under the rubble with one on top of the other.

get the idea? something like that, not just the typical, "whoa! i see you, i like you, we fall for each other" type thing. (unless it's a story that makes this somehow unusual?? -shrug-)

• it can take place in any part of the story, whether it's a flashback to how they met, or it happens later on or in the beginning
• they don't have to fall for each other right after the situation, as i said above~
• i don't mind if it's a cliche situation, or one that's used a lot in manga, as long as it's an "unusual situation".. if that makes any sense at all.. like, uhm.. well i can't think of any -cough-
• can be any genre (i prefer straight romance, so please no yaoi/yuri etc. if it can be helped.) as long as it has romance and the above qualifications

i tried to find other topics like this, but failed lol. if there is if you could be so kind to point them out to me.. oh, and thank you~

Fruits Basket comes to mind. It takes a long time to get to the romance though (~15 volumes at least).
Ouran High School Host Club falls into the same category.

NG Life is fairly unique, even though how they meet isn't anything super special - how they know each other is. =)

One of the more cliche situations is being thrown together as stepbrother/sister, like Honoka ni Purple or Crossroad (which is an unusual setup, even for stepbro/sis setups). If you want me to look up one of those threads, let me know. I posted several in one relatively recently.

EDIT: I agree w/Whatever (below) about Midori Days too.

Fudanshism - Fudanshi Shugi -- They meet while the guy is cosplaying as a female anime character.
Gakkou Hotel -- They meet at a meeting of a secret society.

yay thank you everyone~ i really appreciate it!

it's great, because i got some suggestions with magical-strange type meetings, and odette suggested some non-magical strange/awkward type mangas. :] (which all have really interesting sounding meetings from what i see~) i was looking for more of the later type, but the other type, especially set in modern day, make a good read.

i'll definitly go through and read these as i finish up gokusen.. (i've read fruits basket, chobits, & hot gimmick but it's been quite awhile, so i might re-read them x3)

oh, and the step-siblings situation is always interesting :] i'll probably throw some of those in to read too, thanks for bringing that up.

Kamisama Hajimemashita - homeless girl meets a fox familiar at a shrine. is cute, light-hearted, funny, slight romance (only 10 chps so far, so romance will probably develop later in the story)

should also try Suzuki Julietta's other works -- they're all cute, light-hearted stories that leaves you feeling warm and satasfied every chapter ___
