It depends on where you live.
In the US, as far as I know there are no laws about naming children. There have been cases where someone (in the birth certificate office maybe?) has objected to a proposed name because it's something that's very likely to be a burden to the child (swear word, insult, etc.), and the name hasn't been allowed.
Other than that, in the US you actually ARE allowed to just randomly name your child pretty much whatever you want.

it´s impossible to name children like that were i live. if i named my children with the german equvivalents "Schnee" and "Puppe" yout welfare office would come and take the children away.
and i heared that some stupid guys in the US called their son "Adolf Hitler" 😔 😔 😔
but this kinda explains why the foreign persons in manga/anime often have strange names

Sure, there's always going to be a few idiots out there who do things like naming their children after genocidal dictators, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea.
Someone named Adolph Hitler is going to either have to go through paperwork to change their name or will end up having everyone take them for a joke (they'll have to deal with this for 16 years or so either way). Picture yourself submitting a job application with the name "Adolph Hitler" at the top. Nine times of out ten they'll assume you're trolling and toss the thing out without reading it.
TLDR- If you seriously consider giving your child a name that will have decent chance of ruining his/her life, do everyone a favor and practice abstinence or birth control.

Yes, in the US you really can name your child pretty much anything you want to, and I've heard some pretty odd ones.
I'm a little surprised that "Adolph Hitler" made it through, but I've heard of it happening a couple of times. The one I can remember hearing the most about, that was the kid's first and middle name, so the full name would be something like "Adolph Hitler Smith" and he could just go by "Adolph Smith"or "Adolph H. Smith" if a middle name/initial was required.

Sure, as long as it was a perfectly normal/common name in English. Aren't there plenty of kids named after songs or something like that and no one knows until they hear the story of how that person was named? There are a few names that wouldn't seem weird at all, and if you got the inspiration from manga, well...?
Though if it was obviously Japanese, made-up, or otherwise indicative of being inspired by anime/manga/something like that, of course not.
Also... maybe not Johann.

I would have no problem naming my future kids after a manga character, but only because i liked the name itself. And I'd do a bit of research on its meaning just in case its something a don't like.

Just maybe... But, I'm probably leaning towards not naming my child (if I ever choose to have kids) after an anime/manga character. Just worried that he/she will get teased about the name a little too much. I'm probably open about possibly names like Yuri (which is a boy's name in Eastern European countries, akin to George, I believe), Eriko/Erika, Aya, or any name that has nice phonetic tone and fit into English, I'll probably take a good look at.

eh? my son name is Danium, it just happen that i like him as a character and of course the name itself. Now... how many people know that his name is from a non fictional character? i also did some Google about the meaning too.
I think it depends, just don't name your children japanese name when you are remotely is not asian. But i have a friend who name their son Akio, the father is black and the mother is asian.
Just for whatever reason, don't name your son Naruto >.<

If i have a daughter I will name her "Calysta" or "Calista" after the most beautiful moon of saturn. The reason is my father wanted to name me this but my last name already had a huge 14 letters in it and I didn't need a weird long first name to go with it.
as for the boy name i'll leave that up to my husband when I finally find him XD

Not after anime or manga per say but I do like Sora for a girls name, so if my wife and I have one, that'd be the first name used.
I grew up with a really common name, and I could have had a somewhat uncommon one so I want our children to have names a bit on the rare side (my name, Christopher is really common....Christian, what I would have been named is uncommon, and as Christian, using the full name is easier, so I've gone by Chris most my life FTL. Say Chris in a full room and 5 heads turn.)
Not awful names mind you, I have decent naming sense (wouldn't name a poor child Lumpy or Star), just rare.
