We've found our guy!

Surprise! We're not looking for a translator or full-time "WE NEED THIS RIGHT NOW DAMMIT" help.

But sometimes here at Musashi Quality, our release pipeline gets a little clogged as a result of getting stuck on particularly difficult cleans. We have a very talented editor who often helped out in these situations, but he's traveling for work and can't be of service as often as he used to.

If you're skilled with redraws and wouldn't mind helping out occasionally (i.e. one or two pages a week, if that) on any of our series, drop us a line at musashiquality@gmail.com or stop by our irc channel at #musashiquality on irchighway. Our current project list includes the following:

Ai Kora
Hayate the Combat Butler
Rabuyan
Saki

Holy crap, is that Bill Murray?

I'm assuming, as I have never worked scanlation before, that cleaners need, say, photoshop or a comparable program?

Yep, it's Bill Murray from the terrific movie Lost in Translation.

And yes, Photoshop is the de facto standard tool for cleaning and redrawing, thanks to its versatility with layers and various filters and brushes/pens. You could get by with other programs like GIMP or Fireworks, but most tutorials are written for Photoshop, and most peers would be using Photoshop, so you'd be on an island, so to speak.

We'd ideally be looking for someone with experience cleaning manga in the past, but if you have preternatural skill, there's nothing stopping you from giving us a shout.

I cleaned/redrew a bit of some manga before, but I can't say I'm amazing or efficient at it. I could probably do a page or two a week, though. 🙂
