I personally don't know manga haters but basically my school has like no manga readers so its very lonely in that aspect of conversation. 🙁 But ya i dont care if ppl know i like or read manga i actually try to make it apparent 😁 .

But seriously I hate it when ppl judge things without ever reading one they all assume that those big popular anime and manga is all there is out there!. 🤢

Oh they're everywhere. Literally. I can't say to anyone I read manga because chances are they'll be like "ooookaaaay....I'll just...back...off...and.... come...later...mumblegottagetoutofheremumble

...The joys of a country where manga is mixed up with J-rock and sushi.

exactly ><
some people have completely started to ignore because of it. the only person i can talk to about manga is my sister. i hate manga haters (does that make any sense?). why can't they give it a chance...i did 😀

I brought manga into the school... Everyone watched anime until i suggested a few sites for reading it and it spread like wildfire. A couple kids hate it though and call me and my friends many terms. The kids who still stick purely to anime are worse though.

Cheh, people like that are annoying. Luckily, I don't have to deal with them much.

People who don't know what manga is need an explanation...
But what other way is there to explane then to say "it's a japanese comic"
When they hear the word "comic" that's probably when thoughts like "are you a frigin child?", "that's stupid" and so on, arise.

I know people like that... Very annoying...
My best friend doesn't like manga, but she doesn't hate it either.
People should be more like her...

I agree with the person who said it's all about the attitude. In fact your appearance also matters. Here in my place just as long as you don't look and act like an otaku even though you have such hobbies, it's perfectly fine. I have yet to encounter manga haters, and I really don't want to meet one.

In another sense, If you ask some people here, if they hate manga you shouldn't be surprised if you receive "I like the yellow ones, not the green ones." Because here, the term manga is known as a fruit, and I bet you can guess what fruit that is.

Do I know any manga haters? Yeah, two.

My parents.

Thank goodness, we've finally come to a point where I'm old enough to do what I want (I am 20 years old now... or rather, I'll be 20 in a week!! 😀 ) and so they won't say anything about this hobby of mine, except the occasional frown or something along the lines of "stupid Japanese crap"...

But, well, when I was younger it was a bit of a hassle, actually, because they obviously wouldn't give me any money to buy it (are ya kidding?) but my dad got so pissed once because he said it was becoming an addiction that he actually freaking took away my computer for a whole week!!! Can you believe the guy?! I was crying the whole time, obviously, and didn't speak to either of my folks for the following two or three weeks.

Oh, and if you're wondering how I survived... I smuggled my brand new portable dvd-player in my backpack every morning with some anime, and hung out at a friend's house after school to watch it... 😁

Oh, yeah. I used to be one; my mom had a strange paranoia against anime and manga that transfered to me (all of her weird paranoias do in some form or another at some point). Then, I moved and made friends with a bunch of otakus. She still doesn't know I read the stuff and I plan on keeping it that way.
They actually have this thing about knowing all my passwords. Big problem. So I keep all my manga on my laptop, where the password is my library card number (yeah, I'm a geek like that). So, technically, they know it, but that doesn't mean they can access my stuff. My manga is safe as long as I make sure I shut my computer whenever I'm at home and not on it.
