Because Raito seems more Japanese, it feels more natural, and because we're reading Japanese manga here, AND we're more accustomed to English than Japanese people, we feels like the word Light sounds and read lame you know.

Of course the author wanna emphasize that the character's name is Light because he means to use the English word in his manga, it looks and feel more prestigious for Japanese reader, thou the effect is opposite to us.

Just imagine that the author is an American and he's writing a Japanese manga, will he still emphasize that the name is Light ? If he write the word Light in kanji, it sounds like "Raito".

*and yeah, Raito is smart, and he's the main character, so it's not wise to kill off the main character that you've been supporting since the start. Anyway, I feels that Death Note is not a normal manga to begin with, it's like a puzzle book.

alright i have another one, although I wouldnt say I hate the end, i just sorta think the main guy got screwed in the end. Chobits, lol he got everything he wanted, but he is not allowed to do anything more then first base with the women he loves, for the rest of his life. Kinda sucks for him, that part i didnt like.

About the Kenshin thing.. You would have to watch a special OAV or OVA in order to get that ending. For the anime episodes, it was cancelled before the manga adaption could continue. The third, and last season, is full of a bunch of crappy fillers. The last arc in the manga isnt even close to being covered in the OVA. It showed a very small part of the last fight. But, it really wasn't that good though. I watched all the anime stuff but felt like I was missing something. About a year later I read the entire series(since some things are left out in anime series) and found the last arc. A lot better than the anime.. Well, in my opinion, most manga is better than the anime. But the anime OVA takes the liberty of adding an ending that takes place much further after the duel between Kenshin and Yahiko.

not sure if anyone else saw, but both manga and anime ending for Tokko, kinda just like what the hell there at the end. Thought the story could have been cool.

I really didn't like the end of Bremen. I think it could have done something way cooler. It was suddenly "I'm a clone of jesus!" and curtain falls.
What a dissappointment. 🙁

Witch Hunter Robin's ending is one of those that leaves it to the viewer's imagination. I like to believe that they're out there somewhere making babies 😀

Gate-keepers...ah, I hate the "ending too". The DVD has a special one that shows them on a cliff looking at the sunset. He says something to her but we don't hear it. I'm guessing that he's sorta "breaking up" with her because in the real ending, which is Gate-keepers 1985(manga), we find out that they both married someone else (broke my heart 🙁 ). I still wanna read it though, but its not scanslated 🙁

As for manga endings: There really isn't a manga I finished in which i didn't like the ending:

Though for Death Note, A part of me really wanted Light to win

As for anime, The list goes:

Cowboy Bebop (preferred a less tragic ending)
Ginban Kaleidoscope
Yuu Yuu Hakusho (Great show, but the ending leaves you like "thats it")
Ruronin Kenshin (b/c of the cut arc)

As for other commonly disputed shows:

Ichigo 100% Manaka should have ended up with the girl he chose in the end (forgot the name) because it shows growth and that he truely loves he because he chose her over Aya.

I have to say it, even if i' m a kind of extreme Fruits Basket lover (over human understanding i think 😛 ) how could the author draw an ending like that?! o.o

It was pretty touching (the most moving scene was the old Tohru and Kyo walking together) and all, but i think that Takaya sensei could focus also on Momiji and the other characters as well! It's true thery're all shown in the end, but i think this ending was quite hurried (even after 23 volumes) =P
