If it is a PVE mmo I'd go with a summoner, but if it is a PVP mmo, I'd look up builds to see if a warrior or ranger has more dps.

Defintely swordsman. I like being able to run up to someone and slashing their heads off. (not literally...) Though, my ideal character is someone who also has some projectiles that I can resort to from time to time.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that rogues do it from behind.

You can't deny the awesomeness of doing it from behind.

WARRIORS ARE THE BEST

why ?

1 - main characters are mostly a swordsman in historic movies, games,
animes, series, shows, and MMO-RPGs. ( example being: Gatts from
Berserk, Ichigo from Bleach, Cloud from FFVII, and Jedis from
Star Wars( lol, though its a lightsaber, still counts as swords.. thats light )

2 - looks epic, and i just like going up to people and feel the striking i give
from every strike ( i like the fact in some games i can strike a person
and get a vibrate effect from controllers to feel every strike i made.

3 - Rogues do it from the behind

 Archers are cuntie and also take it from behind( robin hood, Legolas from  
 the LOTR)  
  
 Clerics = For little girls only, posed as nurses ( most anime and  
              ( RPG stories have clerics as girls )

 Necromancer = necrophilias   🤢  ugly ugly ugly!

 Gunman/Sniper - Guns are for people who can't fight and  
                          do not know the true nature of epicness

 Monks/Fighters - alright man, keep it up, eye of the tiger, heheheh

 Barbarians/Spearman - sword is the best man-made weapon  
                                   rising above any other clumsily shaped  
                                   weapons.

 Magician - wearing little dress trying to be merlin or gandalf  
                 magic is for woosies, lol

I don't play mmorpg's, but in one player RPG's mages and the like are my preferences in situations like Boss battles or really tough enemies since:

1. they can usually take out multiple opponents in one strike;
2. they usually have the option to heal someone who's hurt;
3. In the rpg's i've played, it's usually because of the mages and their support magic that fighters and warriors are capable of inflicting any significant damage on a boss or stay alive after a boss's uber-cheap "kill everything on screen" move; and
4. the damage of their most powerful attacks tend to far surpass the damage caused by warriors, monks, etc.
   But outside of boss battles and tough enemies, swordsmen and the like are better since for most random enemies selecting "fight" from a battle options menu is enough to do the job. And there is always the issue of running out of MP at crucial moments.

I think summoner wins in coolness factor, but in games with PvP I tend to pick classes that are strongest in PvP...

Yeah, A sniper that doesn't shoot and move is usually a dead sniper.
