I've only ever read online. When I find a series I like, I go out and buy it when I have the money. I figure if I like something, I have to do my part and support the author 😀

i normally read online but that's only cos in my country we don't get many mangas here and the ones we do get are ridiculously over priced and waiting in the library takes so long i can't remember what happened in the last volume.
but i would prefer to have the actual book and read it

I downloaded most of my manga. and never get any malware or virus from any of my manga download, that's 10 years experience. so if u guys get any, it come from other source. Learn more how to protect your pc.

for me, reading downloaded manga is always better than any online reading experience. I used ACDsee, it worked perfect, reading all zip, rar, cbr, cbz, etc. Tried to use CDdisplay, but since i have been using acdsee since v3.0, i'm more used to it.

As for online reader, sure it's way more convenience than downloading but it's the loading time that fuss me up. There are a few online reader that have auto loading page like japanzai and titania scanlations which will pre-fetch the next image. but then again also some hiccup here and there, like sometimes the pre-fetch process stop after loading a few instead of loading all. Hope those who make those plugin can further perfect the auto loading reader.

tips for those who like to do online reader:-
for chrome, I use some auto page loader extension, namely pagezipper, autopager, etc, which can load all the image in one page. This technique is called repagination.

for firefox, i have tab mix plus add on which enable me to open multiple pages in many tab, which i use for manga stream release. Just highlight all the pages link and click "Open Links in New Tabs".
I also play with iMacros add on, which help me to open multiple pages from others online reader. Also have the Re-Pagination addon to load all page in 1 page.

but beware, all those i suggested will takes lots of memory so only load 1-3 chapter at 1 time.

However with so many enhancement using many online extension/add on, it still wont beat the experience of reading downloaded manga. Sometimes I read quite fast, also sometimes i like to enlarge the image to have a better view.

Nothing beats the speed of downloading a manga with download manager with 10 connection threads. Yeah baby!

I never download manga to read it. I used to read manga online, but I no longer do.
I prefer to buy the manga and read it. That's the best way to enjoy reading manga!

That's very politically correct of you 🙂

Politically? Haha, you made me laugh at that 😀 Anyway, I'm glad there's a person that agrees with me.

Honestly, I try to buy as well when its afforable. I don't have lot of money, so international shipping cost makes it really prohibative to purchase things many non-english licenced manga and light novels.

Beyond that it really depends on what the scanlator prefers, if they have something for read online, I might browse it for a series. However, if they prefer downloads, I read it as a download.

Mostly read online, cant download freely because of the limited bandwidth.
Poor internet speed and bandwidth in my country =______="

You do realize that unless you're reading on an OR that lowers quality greatly, it doesn't make a big difference in bandwidth whether you download or read online, right? ^^

Before, I only read manga online since I have a limited internal harddisk space and I don't have an external harddisk to store my favorite mangas. Now, I prefer downloading my favorite mangas for portable and future reading since I could afford a much larger capacity internal and external harddisks. Another reason why I prefer to download because my siblings usually hogged the computer. I could read my downloaded mangas using my phone so there's no whiny sibling to disturb you while reading your manga. 😀

Usually online. If its a (long) series I just found, I'll usually download it so that I don't have to deal with load times between each page.

I download the mangas now since I sometime won't have internet connection. And it is much easier to refer back to them if they are on your computer then online (my opinion). Some that I can't find to download I will read online.

Yeah, I can see that. That's the reason why most people read manga online. But at least, you try to buy manga 🙂 That's good & supporting ne.
Luckily my parents somehow give me money to buy manga. So yeah. I must be pretty lucky, I think.

Hah. That's really nice of you 🙂

Don't really read that much manga these days, but when I do, it's mostly by download via IRC or DDL. Unless it's some stupid (usually shoujo) scan group that insists on joining their retarded forum and making a gazillion posts before DDL links pop-up, in which case I just find an online reader or forget the manga altogether.

Hahaha, yeah, that's idiotic, like a certain 'D' group. I hardly join good forums, let alone registering in some lame, temporary blog.

As for me, I am an online reader all the way, because it feels like such a drag to download something; you have to name it, find/create the right folder, maybe delete it later, make sure you have enough space, etc. Plus, my rule is, 'If you can read this series again, then you can find another one to spend your time on;' if I can't find a chapter on the Internet, which rarely occurs, then yeah, but I usually save it for when I don't have a connection, which never really happens. So, yeah, sitting in the dust . . . 😐

Read online or buy for me. I have this thing that if I want a copy to read whenever I want I need to go and buy it so no downloads.
