Download or read online?

online readers because they are very convenient; and coupled with a userscript that loads the entire chapter into one page (i like to read it like a webcomic), my reading is enhanced five fold
It's alot faster than downloading. You download, unzip the rar file, then read.

I usually read online as I have OCD and spend quite a bit of time organizing my files after I DL them. But I do like having zips/rars on my phone that I can pop open whenever. Like my Ga-Rei folder that I constantly re-read 😀

I like downloading and reading online
Webcomics are online, because of the size/format
mangas I usually download, I didn't think people saved their downloads...my downloads gets automatically deleted from my computer after one day. Which allows my computer not to lag or anything like that.
online is nice too but...the pages don't always load properly, so I usually download 60% of the time.

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

I prefer d/ling stuff I like and reading online to look for new stuff. My connection is slow making downloading everything I see a chore. On the other hand, I sometimes read things where I do not have a connection and you never know when the site you like to read on will be down.
Given an option, I'd rather go through legitimate routes. I usually buy a hard copy raw or read something off of j-comi.jp instead of deal with licensed crap though. I just can't trust english publishers after years of bad translations and butchering. The whole idea that a company could delete my legitimately purchased digital copies makes me leery of purchasing e-books in general.

I prefer downloading the manga that I read, and it's usually IRC or direct downloads. I'm a bit old-fashioned and this has been the way I've leeched for almost a decade, years before I even owned a PC. xD I like saving the files so I can read it again some other time. I also visit the websites of groups that I follow for news and the occasional clever post, and it's great to be able to show them some appreciation for the hard work.
The reasons why I don't like reading online is that my internet connection is slow, and yeah, some popular online readers/manga aggregators make a lot of money from ads, (which is an entirely different topic altogether, heh.)
If there's a reason why I'd read online, it's this xD:

Don't really read that much manga these days, but when I do, it's mostly by download via IRC or DDL. Unless it's some stupid (usually shoujo) scan group that insists on joining their retarded forum and making a gazillion posts before DDL links pop-up, in which case I just find an online reader or fo ...

One can just use comic readers, like cdisplay without having to unzip the compressed file.

Online for webcomics and for series where the scanlators insist you have to join their forum and post stuff before being allowed to DL.
Download for anything else. With a 10 KBps connection, reading online is way too much hassle -- it takes forever for a page to load.

That depends on whether I follow the scanlation group or not - I'd prefer that I have followed more than three projects of that group. If I download, I download straight from the scanlating group. I prefer downloading them (in their .rar or .zip files) because though downloading takes some time, if my computer is slow, then it's actually faster to save them, in my case. And I can read it a couple of times, if I like it that is. ^^'
After reading, I usually delete them. If not, I save it to my USB for a few days, before deciding whether or not to delete it. If I really like it, I send it to my email, so it wouldn't be a waste of space.
Sometimes, if I absolutely love it (unusual), I would scale the pages to a smaller size and print them off. I have a file, with a couple of my favourites...
Though usually, it's easier to read online.
Just my computer...is usually horrifically slow... :/

I download chapters/volumes if I like the series, and for me are worth reading over again. However, for those that are just meant to be read for a moment, I prefer reading them online.
Sometimes, I download everything, and if I end up not liking the series, I tend to delete the chapter/s.

Usually read online as all the manga are grouped onto one site.
However I download chapters only when they aren't released onto online readers.

Downloading. I don't see any good about reading online. For the time the chapter is downloaded, you can do something else and you don't have to wait till the next page loads. Although it take only seconds mostly.
And I'm not deleting it so I make a collection, witch wouldn't be possible if I read online. ok, you need about 100 GB free space, but as external discs exists, no problem. I started to download mangas that I'm planning to read, in case of acta and other possible apocalypses.
ok, reasons for downloading:
- You can delete all credits, recruit, birthdays and other s**t beforehand and never see it. (some scanlators have about 5, or even more of these and if online, you can't skip them)
- It's faster (in the time you download, you can do something else, and not looking at the download bar, what seems to be the problem for everyone)
- You can have a manga reader, with it you can see two pages at once, making the size fit your sreen, so no more scrolling, you can stop reading any time and then come back beginning at the exact page without searching. And you don't have to click on the doublepage three times to go forward (refering to mangafox)
- You can make your collection, and read a series again and again.
- You can read without internet.
- The online readers lower the quality. And that's a fact, no theory.
- Some online manga readers reduce the size of the images and it's hard to read (I don't remember witch one was it)
- And some have watermarks (I think mangareader)
- If you are for some reason looking for some scene or chapter, it's easier than looking online.
- ....and everything else.
if there is an option between "to do" and "not to do", I will always choose the latter.

Download.
uncompress, chapterize, re-compress and change extension to cbz. Then import into ComicRack.
Much faster and convenient than trying to view on-line.
Currently have ~5300 chapters/40.1 GBs

I prefer downloading. I can't online all day so I download them and then read later.
