New Live Action Dragon Ball

I think it would definitely be worth watching.
Also i don't mean to get off topic, but for anyone who has either seen the Initial D (chinese) Live Action movie, or read Slam Dunk, there is a Slam Dunk Live action being made with the same main actor. It should be funny 😀 But back on topic, yah live action movies of animes are always at the very least amusing to see, and this should be no exception.
P.S.: (I thought Transformers sucked, funny to laugh at how bad it was kind of suck. So it was fun, but not funny, and by no means a good movie. That's how i see this as being.)

Yea, thought it sucked too. Nice effects, but the plot was crap. DB/Z *might *suck, but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. They would prolly change the story a bit and how the characters would look like and all. I wouldn't expect them to cast actors that looks exactly like anime characters.

Ok, to really get the conversation moving, I present to you a new question for discussion.
What if it's actually really good?
Like, what if they do condense the story, but it's still good as a movie itself (Take for example, the Transformers movie).
I personally feel the movie could be done with the right amount of work. It'd need a good plot, damn good make-up, and ALOT of realism (Especially with the hair, it'd have to look more realistic).
Thoughts on this?
Well, of course, if they really want to, and put the budget into they can really make it look good. But well, I'm not sure how much money they'd need to make it look good enough?
Like for example, the incredible hulk, the movie idea has been there since mid 90's from what I heard. But they just said that the budget would have been way to much to make it look descent. Now they're planning on releasing it in 2008 for 2 reasons: With CG's now they can do much better work and cheaper + spiderman showed them that a comic book inspired movie might be worth the investment.
Well in short, that was to say, yes they probably can make it look good if they are ready to put the money and effort on it. But some times, the film industry makes the dumbest decision ever... So can't really say.
And on another note... I don't know I just can't imagine kuririn being acted by a human actor lol. And god knows what actors they might bring? Imagine "the rock" as Son Goku... 🤢
Anyway, I'll probably give it a look as soon as it's out. But I'm not having too high hopes out of it.
P.S. Apparently the filming is going to be done in Montreal? cool I might try and get myself scouted for Son Gohan's role?

If you don't mean to get off topic, then don't. Saying you don't mean to, then doing so is pretty hypcritical.
As I said, I'd like this topic to stay on topic, and not get spammed, either.
I don't want to lock the topic, but I will if I have to.
Stealth;
I definitely have worries over the cost, and what would be Live actors and what would be CG. I can picture Frieza done as Human/CG (Think Nightcrawler from X-2), and the same with Cell and most of the alien's.
If they change the plot a bit to alter the setting to a futuristic earth type setting, than the capsule technology, and the evolved half animal species could easily be explained, as could the Androids.

If they manage to make it good, then great,
They'd need fob hair stylists. The hair will probably need to look like the CG effects from FF7 Advent Children.

i think the hair being ridiculous will be one of the main points. If it's 3 feet tall from the first scene, it would turn into a bad comedy. But then again not taking it far enough would be a let down. decisions decisions..... 😕

What I really want to know is who's directing. I'll watch it in theaters, since I wuv the series so much, but I won't keep my hopes high.

the whole things is hard to imagine. If it were good, I'd definitely see it, since DB was one of the first animes that I got into.
More than half of the movie will be CG - to me, that's a given. There's too many things blowing up.

well i think it'll hav awesome cg and stuff since technology is so good nowadays..but it'll be kinda weird to see some1 shouting "KAMEHAME HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
In my oppinion, transformers wasn't so good as a movie, but it was great entertainment (I could probally have explained that better), and that is pretty much what i am hoping from this movie, I won't be horrified if they make up a scenario (it will be find the dragonballs and save the world from a handful of bad guys). Hopefully they can get the balance right between a basic story that everyone can enjoy and bits for the dbz fans, as I think undoubtedly it will be aimed at an audience that havent read or seen the series.
I'd love to see a CG packed monster of a film, without the common overdramatics. Hopefully they will stay true to dbz, particularly leaving things (kame hame haaa..., character names, etc) as is. Will it be too much to ask for that they dont devote an hour to romance? xD
Is there any news on the director yet?
side note: oh dear... I just started to remember some of the characters... I hope they go for the cg option over finding an actor to play Mr. Popo (was that his name? xD ), and such

at least theres one aspect in witch the movie will suruly not suck.
the action. with a budget like that, all the production and special effects will be really good.
im really curious to see the movie even if it sucks, because i cant imagine how they will adapt dragon ball to real life. will they try to copy the hair and costumes or adapt to a more real look. and the action, i'll have to be almost everything cgi.
and talking about american comix adaptations, it terms of drawing and action, they are all more real, so to speak. manga as the tendency to push things way beyond the limites of reallity and draw things in a completly diferent way (speacialy in shonen) and im not saying thats bad

I think that its easier to imagine a dragon ball z movie then a dragon ball movie, they should go with dbz or make up a new script which has both cause no matter how much I think about it I can't picture a actor for chibi goku, on the other hand I can picture a adult goku or vegeta

They better devote 2 minutes at most to romance. But knowing Hollywood, they go for what the public likes, not always the truth. I've seen them mess up too many books.
they should made this guy to play mr satan 🤣
