So, around five years ago, 20th Century Fox liscensed the rights to make a live action Dragon Ball movie, and everyone was happy. However, nothing ever came of it.
Until now.
In a recent article on Canada.com, it was revealed they're begin shooting the film, and it'll finish around July 2008. The budget is estimated at around 100 Million US dollers.
Any other fans interested in this?
I've seen the old Taiwanese film (which, despite being horrible and not having a large budget, was quite funny), and am actually looking forward to this.
So, anyone wanna guess the cast list?

New Live Action Dragon Ball
From User
Message Body
As much as I liked Dragon Ball back then, the thought of a live action version makes me cringe. And while we're at this what ever happened to the Eva movie? It's likely it's gonna suffer the same fate.

I think I've seen pictures of the Taiwanese one <- that's all I can say about it.
But if they're going to do a new one, I would definitely watch it. Dragon Ball's one of my first anime and I have some sort of loyalty towards it.

::edit::
Ohhhh Dragon Ball.... not Z lol well anyways I still think they should leave it alone... but then again I guess I could get a few laughs out of it.

OH YEAH! I will totally see this. But they'd better do it well. Or they will inspire the Wrath of the Fanboy, and I will gladly be part of the angry mob. Live-action Kamehameha will look so cool... Too bad we won't get to see a live action Super Saiyan though. By the way, does anyone know how much of Dragon Ball they'll cover? My guess is just the Pilaf arc, the first 2 volumes, since more than that would be hard to fit in one movie. Does anyone know what it'll be rated? I'm hoping PG, but I know what the first 2 volumes of Dragon Ball are like, so I'm betting on PG-13, and even that will require a little censorship, but that's probably what they'll have to do to get a good audience. I can't wait for this!
The article doesn't say much does it? That could have been the plot line to Disney's "Stitch".

so true lol, I'll really be holding my breath on this one. there'd be a big enough reaction if they butchered it, so hopefully that'll keep'em on their toes
off-topic- anybody following the news on the battle angel alita movie?
Going off topic is the same as spamming.
Please don't do it, I'd really hate to have to lock this thread.

This will probably be really crappy. I'm guessing the people they pick will be terrible at pronouncing the names and they have probably never read or seen dragonball before. IMO, it will just suck a lot.

So true to me this is just a way for people to make money off of a popular name. Probably has a half ass script too but who knows.... -_- I really don't see how you can have real life Dragon Ball... or any kid actor who looks like Goku ;p

The odds are they'd atleast heard of dragonball, it's pretty big. And if anything, I definately believe it won't follow the canon exactly, but go more like all the spider-man movies did and warp the comics to a general movie for everybody, espcially the non-fans.
and sorry about the post up there ^

They said that it was DBZ, and I would rather it be DB, since I liked that much better. So probably at most, the Saiyan saga when they first meet Vegeta?
I would so see this to laugh at it. Just to laugh at how the hair and stuff is gonna be imitated. And the kamehamehas... lol just thinking about it.

Ok, to really get the conversation moving, I present to you a new question for discussion.
What if it's actually really good?
Like, what if they do condense the story, but it's still good as a movie itself (Take for example, the Transformers movie).
I personally feel the movie could be done with the right amount of work. It'd need a good plot, damn good make-up, and ALOT of realism (Especially with the hair, it'd have to look more realistic).
Thoughts on this?
