I put "other", because I don't really agree with the choices. >:
I don't agree that Japanese cartoons are necessarily better than American cartoons. The story telling style is totally different. It's like apples and oranges.
That said, I do enjoy the storytelling and art. : D
quoted for truth.
Wait who said that japanese toons were better?
It, like, assumes that with every choice in the poll but the last two, and the fetish one.
Sarcasm just doesn't work over the internet.

I saw Bleach, and a little bit of AIR. Later, I just started finding stuff on my own.

Jeez, this poll is ridiculous. What do the possible options have anything to do with the question...?
My answer is, "Akira".

the first anime series that I sort of remember watching was on Fox kids way back in 1997 (flint the time detective anyone?) though my memory is a little hazy on back then, though I do remember watching Voltron about that time on cartoon network. the addiction didn't completely grab me until mid 1999 though I was almost always short on funds so I had almost no chance to start collecting like a fanboy till last year, though by then I pretty much turned into a manga collector and spending only a small amount on DVD's

I started anime because it was hilarious. Why isn't that a poll option?
They say it's the thought that counts, but then they tell you, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions......"

Hmm, kind of weird, but I got into anime cause i was jealous. One of my friends started watching Naruto from another of my friends dvds. I wanted to know what the hell they were talking about, so i watched it too. That got me hooked (although I now know that Naruto sux, its not bad for a first show.)
