  1. There are a LOT of YA books that don't feature idiotic teenagers, fyi. This 'point' you're trying to make here isn't very clear. What does anyone expect when they read a book? I went out at 1AM in the morning looking for Breaking Dawn, coughed up near 25$ only to want to burn it on the author's lawn a few hours later. I payed for it, I defended her previous books, I can bitch a little about it, right? I can be disappointed...

  2. Twilighters and Twitmoms are just as bad as the "darkside." Except the darkside had actual valid points, a lot of them.

The fandom is serious business. I mean, why are there fans for anything if they can't get a little too crazy over something.

Ah, "Twilight" was something that a girl said when our prof ask about what we read nowadays and the boys were like "ugh" lol that was one of my first impression about it.

Stephenie Meyer = the most pretentious f**k EVAR
besides, the books will be forgotten in 10 (mebbe less) years
having never read the books, i have no idea but it sounds like DAM DUMB
... with vampires, but stupider
and when they mentioned that there would be a manga adaptation, Robert Patterson (is that his name, the dumbass actor?) dickishly said that he looked like a manga character
EPIC FAIL

Why would you bash something when you haven't even read it? i haven't read "Twilight" either, but after seeing this thread,"something" started a disinclination for it inside me lol even though some people made a point about what (they think) the author actually said...and it is possible for me to be sick of something that i saw or heard of too much with out knowing what it is.

I also love how she thought people would eventually "accept" Failure Dawn's ending, refusing to admit people would hate it - at least JKR had the balls to realize a lotta people would hate HP7.

I remember that >:-( She said "just read it again," she said we would come to love it eventually. >:-(

lolwut ?

lolz, I find some really deep meaning in some of Shakespeare's stuff. I'll admit some of it's rather dull, but some of his stuff is downright awesome. Meyer...I'd rate as average. Twilight was an okay book, nothing too special for me. Can't say I liked any of the sequels at all though.

It's not so much the book that I hate (I just really, really, really really dislike it), but the fangirls. Not all of them, yes, but just... the irritating ones. Y'know - "Oh em gee, Edward is so hawt! Too bad he's a book character... Have you read Twilight, it's like, super-long (as if that makes it good) and ah-mazing!"

I just want to scream.

I read Twilight before the whole hype built up, and I thought it was just your average bad book - cliche to a suffocating extent. But I didn't go around posting on threads like these.

But now, I just hate it even more, because everyone loves it more. I know that sounds superficial, but it's true in my case. I just... ugh. It's so annoying. I need to rant.

Sorry to break it to ya but annoying girls like that have been around for a long, long time 😀

But Twilight does have the habit of sort of grouping them.

I haven't read Twilight and I haven't read the Vampire Diaries (which came out 10 years earlier than Twilight, I think), but some people who have read both are saying that Twilight is a ripoff of Vampire Diaries here:

http://www.amazon.com/Twilight-just-ripoff-Vampire-Diaries/forum/Fx1GAA6GYWX8459/Tx1BT6YCI83CUOD/1/ref=cm_cd_ef_tft_tp?_encoding=UTF8&asin=031604461X

Is there anyone who has read both and can offer an opinion?

If it's true that Meyer was just a little too influenced by an earlier set of books, then that certainly makes her condescending attitude towards her fans even more annoying than it already is.

I was so annoyed by the vampire diaries that I couldn't even get past the fist book. I remember loathing it! The writing is very good but I think it was the main character that seriously got on my nerves. I don't see the similarities in the part I read. The characters and writing are so different.

There's a theory that SM took from a lot of different vampire books, but who cares. It would of been pretty obvious by now if she had seriously copied from something else. She proclaims she started writing because of a dream she had. Which could easily of been influenced by a book she read. Though I remember her denying ever reading books people accused her of copying from.

Deary me. Twilight is better than Romeo and Juilet? I think she needs therepy. To even consider yourself in the league of Shakespeare means there is something seriously wrong in your head.

Come on. Even Harry Potter is better than freaking Twilight!

3 books about teenage love with a sparkly vampire will not go in the records of amazing books.

Now that is a woman with a big ego. Honestly, comparing yourself to Shakespeare and Jane Austen?! Who the hell does she think she is?!

choked on cereal when reading this title That reaction pretty much sums it up. Stephenie Meyer or not, no author says that they're better than one of the fathers of literature itself.

I think that's hilarious - Meyer thinks she's better than Classical Authors.

If I remember correctly her characters especially Edward is based on Mr Rochester from Jane Eyre written by Bronte (who was a classical lit writer). Also in Twilight she mentioned Austen's male heroes.

To now say she's better than them - seriously she should be thankful for them! They are the ones that gave her an imagination and inspiration to read and write!

The whole commercialisation of the Twilight series etc has gotten to her head!!! Wait til the next big thing comes along and we'll see if we even remember who she is!

LOL
I don't know who this Stephanie Meyer person is, nor have I ever heard of this Twighlight book series. But anyone in this day and age who claims to be a better writer than Shakespear or other great classical writers, needs a fucking CAT scan. 'cos theres either something very wrong with your head, or your the next step in human neurological evolution.
Besides, if I read these replies it seems that her books are the most retarded thing since scientology. (and I mean very much offense to any scientologist reading this FYI)

I do think that you hate the twilight series too much, but she's definitely no Shakespeare, and definitely no Jane Austen. I don't particularly feel any need to justify those statements, of course, but if anyone would like me too...
