Sometimes, when a manga is labelled "shounen-ai", when it's not called "shounen-ai" initially by the Scanlators, it's because there are "certain people" who tend to overact abit. Certain people read manga, mostly only the first volume or so and say OMG OMG, something something, it's yaoi, it's yaoi in the reviews which in turn made the manga get the label "Shounen-ai". I have notice it happens to some manga, to other genres too. Sometimes people worry too much about minute detail.
And Amatsuki manga fan shouldn't say the manga has shounen-ai in it even if you wish for it 🙂 That word alone can deter some potential fan from the series. Personally I want the series I like to not have label. People are scared of label and they don't even try and know the manga themselves.

Good story though, and good art. But I don't like the anime compared to the manga.

I'm also liking this Anime alot, i've yet to read the manga, it's on my extremyl backlogged "To-Read" list. in which the are nearly a hundred other series to catch up/start lol. I wish I had more time to read, it's alway's so enjoyable.

I didn't see any shounen-ai in there
if I remember correctly theres some hetero romance between one of the main characters-- it was toki and that girl...the god dog girl (can't remeber her name.. I may be wrong but, i think I read somewhere about it..I'm probably wrong(?)

You know, this is precisely why I despise BL-shipping.
When people start writing (baseless) yaoi doujinshi for a series, all the guys and half the girls who were reading it, stop doing so. The mangaka freaks out, and the editor threatens her / him to 'straighten' the characters or else face the cease of publication of the manga. The mangaka then immediately pairs the lead male with a female he was initially only intended to be friends with, and shoves his (male) best friend out of the equation completely...the poor guy then gets minimal page time, just so everyone is once more reassured that the protagonist is not gay. The romance fans come rushing in, and everyone (except me) is happy 😐
Yes- you are looking at the post of a girl who does not fancy romance, BL or GL...Imagine that!
This is exactly what happened in Amatsuki. The fujoshi started to ship Tokidoki and Shinonome, even though there was absolutely no reason to do so... Takayama Shinobu then decided to start dropping hints of romance between Toki and Kuchiha (the dog-spirit woman). And Toki, who was previously very concerned about everyone, now spends most of his time worrying about Kuchiha...sigh
