The seventh volume of Tsutomu Mutsuki's Is This Girl For Real?! (Kono Onee-san wa Fiction desu!?) manga announced on Friday that the series will end in the next volume. In a message dated "a certain day" in December 2014, Mutsuki made the announcement in the romantic comedy's latest volume.

The creator said in the message that he hopes fans enjoyed the manga. He remarked that he would have liked to add another 10 or 20 volumes.

Mutsuki (Ikinari Neko Kick, Momoiro Peanuts) launched the series in Futabasha's Comic Sumomo magazine in 2010, but it moved to the publisher's Comic High! magazine in 2012. Crunchyroll began releasing the series online in English in January 2014.

Crunchyroll describes the story:

Jun Yoshikawa is a boy with a manga artist for a mom. One night, he gets in a situation with a drunk stranger, Narumi Kawase, and decides to look after her. She becomes a live-in assistant at the Yoshikawa household as Jun takes care of her. This is an age-gap comedy about a pre-thirties, unfortunate beauty with no skills nor a job, and a perfect high schooler who helps out his mom and does the household chores as they live together.

apparently are 2 chapters to complete Volume 8
hope he stays with narumi. Because if he stays with Oonuki be the most pointless manga history.

What? How does the author intend to resolve the story in just 2 chapters? I'm smelling an axe.

Sure Jun and Narumi grew close many chapters ago so rather than falling for each other all the author has to do is to make them realize that they already had (they are both just too dense). However it still looks like it would be next to impossible to pull that in just 2 chapters.

Although he did not say, the publisher decided to cancel the series last month.
you come to this conclusion, when we read that he wished to make at least 10 volumes more.
I wish give to him, the possibility of 6 episodes so more volume reaches 9 and ends with many mysteries of the series.

and I hope the end is how I imagine.

OH MY GOD. THAT WAS AWFUL.

In two freaking chapters the author completely destroyed his entire manga. Retroactively killed it. Done. Dead. This was an age gap romance manga. Sure it was mostly teasing, but it was all leading up to something more. That was the whole point of everything that ever occurred. All the other characters revolved around it. That's how the mangaka wrote it.

You can't just freaking cop out and pretend this was going somewhere else in two lousy chapters. Wow, utterly pathetic.

Agreed. It makes absolutely no sense considering the type of manga this was. Why would you write a romantic comedy featuring an older woman and then have the MC

get together with the insufferably boring kouhai?

Even a non-ending that implied something more later on would've been better than this drivel. Instead, the author decided to neuter his work and slap his audience in the face.

Quote from Sakuya

someone care to spoil the ending?

Narumi goes home. Just kidding, she's back. The "bet" cliffhanger the previous chapter ended on was nothing but red herring bullshit. Protagonist gets together with the moe-blob that had a crush on him because reasons. The end.

That feeling when I finished the final chapter. It was so horrible. The same feeling when I was finished reading the last chapter of sexless friend. >:-(

Wow, just wow..

This is, certainly, the first time I read such a worthless ending for a manga after all these tireless years. Certainly can't find the logic with the field trip & bunkasai fillers to come up with this kind of ending.
Now that I'm so pissed, I will erase all Kono Oneesan from my database collection..
Just damn..

Shouldn't have come as that big of shock if you glanced at the mangaka's previous works and what girls they have a thing for.

I'm just curious as to the reaction in Japan or better yet 2chan.
