For the past two years I've been going weeks or months without a computer.

People don't honestly need one. It's well known since people got along fine without one for a long time while still living in modern times.

Most computer applications have another solution. You can still draw on paper, read books, watch television shows and movies, ect. And all the people that say they have their work on it... you can get that work out of a comp!!!

I've enjoyed my time out of it but now that I got it back, I don't think I could not use it. The best I can do is wait till around 10 till I start using it.

You can put a lot of your time into a comp, or a little, and you can overdose on the media you can get out of it. I've been honestly questioning how I'm going to curb my time on it.

Sure, I love to draw on paper and throw them out when my eraser eventually eats it up, my dad owns a paper making factory after all. Eraser peelings make fun decorations too, and hey, it's not like paint and equipment cost money, right? All you have to do is walk into a store and ask for them.

Really though, you sound like some backwards-thinking old man.
We live in the 21st century. Sure, we're dependent on the computer. Sure we can do things without it, but if it's there, why not use it?
Would the cave man had survived for long if they had refused to use their tools for hunting and instead use their bare hands?

We DO need them. Those people that are surviving in this age are either living in the outer reaches of civilization or they actually depend on other people who "depend" on computers.
Accept this or go live in a cave.

Exactly my thought too. Though I don't think I could squander money on every CD or DVD I might like and feeded only from mainstream stuff. And at my uni hand work is more appreciated than computer one (I couldn't do that too).

Computer can either improve you or corrupt you. I'm realy sorry for people who use it only for entertainment and sit in front of it all their spare time. I've heard about some tennis player who was a devil kid (even an arson) and his parents decided for him to play tennis and after winning at some big tournament he got a computer and became interested in programing. I mean, nowadays a kid+computer=/=learning.

Not when your profession or major is something like computer programming or anything in IT. And I know that many colleges (in the US) require the students to electronically submit their work now.

As time goes by it's getting harder and harder to stay away from a computer because many companies are starting to implement computer use, like for bills, registration, etc. Unless you live in some countries in Africa or Asia or South America because then, you can go on with your whole life withoutever touching one.
