well... I heard from a friend that svloyalty was nearly shut down because one person actually told on the forum to the hoster and not enough with that , she actually reported to the publishing company (tokyo pop I think) apparently she registered at the forum, made rude comments and scolded svloyalty staffs because they hosted a licensed manga that was uploaded by various members.

of course she was banned, but I managed to get an excerpt of her post ratting out on another of our beloved scanner catchan scans to tokyopop. here it is:

I'm really appalled at her behaviour.... to my knowledge she has now ratted on 2 separate occasion both with different groups, who knows who else she ratted on

by this message, it's clear that she also reads scanlation,whether its licensed or not, I think most scanlators or scanner do work hard on this... so by telling on scanners like that is like stabbing them in the back. of course they're illegal scanning the original book, but not all people can afford to buy 18volumes of manga that each costs $US10...

if she does not approve of it, then so be it. do not read it. plain and simple isnt it?
again I am shocked that such spiteful people can maliciously do such a thing to a group that has by no means offended her personally...

or maybe I'm just too naive..

Well in all seriousness we all pretty much know its Illeagle and choose to read it ourselves... and from what that person had said it just looks to me like she's an idiot.... a BIG BIG idiot... who the hell snitches on people working hard everday to bring you your every day dose of "manga"juana ITS NOT COOL! ... seriously... doing drugs inst cool.

if she goes to irc to read manga then by that she is already reading scanslated manga not to mention if she knew about the scans and what was inside of it

now how would she know if she herself wasn't reading?

what a hypocrite. if she rats out on scan groups that they're doing something illegal, then she herself should be guilty for reading the scans in the first place.

I managed to rustle up her IP and her user .. dont know if it'll help or if she's using a router or not but her first digits are 71.********** is that a routered IP?

what's the use on getting her ip? its not like she'll change her mind. even if you get her name and address, were not thugs so there's pretty much nothing we can do about her.

lol, it doesn't really offend me. It's just that I just recently saw a FOX news segment (shoot me for being affected by this) about "Anonymous" - people/hackers going around stuffing up other people's accounts, computers etc.

Phew, I'm relieved catchan didn't get caught. She's effing amazing to spend so much time ripping up her books just to bring it to other users and here's some stupid ***** trying to eff it up. As long as she continues to leak it to IRC discreetly she should be fine. Thank god that person didn't find out catchan's site url ^__^

You really shouldn't scan licensed manga though. I always thought scanlations were things done by fans for manga that wasnt available in english in the US as opposed to just a way of avoiding for paying for stuff. I wouldn't have snitched on anyone, but I can't say i'm upset about this.
