Alichino. I've yet to see anything compare even remotely to that.
All of Kaori Yuki's stuff too (Ludwig Kakumei was best IMO), Berserk (even if you don't like it you have to admit the ridiculous amount of detail in each scene really makes the art outstanding) and also the art in Kugutsu mostly because the anatomy and perspective is more or less flawless 😛

I like the art of Yagi Norihiro's CLAYMORE, Hino Matsuri's MERUPURI, VAMPIRE KNIGHT, Shurei Kouyu's ALICHINO, and Lee Young Hee's YOU ARE SO COOL and Shinjo Mayu's and Kusunoki Kei....they all are differently presented and I like them all

Hmm, a tie bewteen Otomo's Domu and Matsumoto's No. 5. Both Moebius-influenced, gritty and detailed, though still quite different.
BTW, I detest Berserk's art. Far too cluttered and claustrophobic.

Gantz, hands down. Oku is a nutcase to get so much detail in his character and monster designs as well as the more violent scenes (with body parts and innards flying everywhere). I never knew that exploding guts and bones could look so beautiful. Not to mention he has to combine that w/ pre-rendered 3D models and backgrounds at times.

After that I'd have to tip my hat to Shamo. It takes a while to get used to the artwork since it doesn't follow any type of manga style or cliche and the mangaka went for a more realistic approach. But when you do, you'll realize that there's an amazing amount of detail and style put into nearly every panel.

Also I think the artwork in Deadman Wonderland is definitely in the top-tier.

What is it that makes people like One Piece art? Honestly that's what stopped me from picking it up at first.

It's unique? Granted, I'm with you-can't get into it 'cause the art bugs me; but I can appreciate that it's got some really interesting style to it, and at least on the cover, the excitement totally leaps off the page, indicating that the arts probably dynamic. Looks like there's also some really fabulous character design going on-all shapes and sizes and man lots of great detail but not an overwhelming amount. It seems like really solid art.

Lately I'm really liking stuff by Jinsei Kataoka (Eureka 7:Gravity Boys and Lifting Girls, Deadman Wonderland) and similar styles. Lots of details, spot on shading without the pages getting lost in blacks, great action scenes, and I love how the people are done (yay for 15 years olds actually looking around their age.) XBlade also does it well, and the transformation scenes are gorgeous.

And of course I'll throw in a vote for anything by CLAMP- Chobits is all sorts of fabulous drawing and xxxHolic's got some great shots and CCS & TRC have some scenes where the emotion totally leaps off the page. Plus, CLAMP's got action scenes down-lots going on without the page feeling so busy that the focus gets lost.

I have, still doesn't change my position. It's not the quality, it's the overall style I have a problem with. I go for more stuff like Oh! Great's art.
