Zom zoms (Zombies) - What do you believe to be "true" about zombies?

• Do you think they can swim? or do they just float? or sink?
• Can they run quickly or more you can outrun them easily (no matter how slow you are)?
• Do you think they can smell?
• Do you think they can think? or maybe get smarter over time?
• Do zombies talk to each other?
• Would bodies pop out from graves?

(This question I'm throwing out of curiosity)

• How much have manga/anime influenced your zombie "facts" ?

~No, they don't use or don't have a brain anymore.. But they Do smell

~No, but in games, yes..

~NO, never seen a zombie talk to one another

~No, they are Buried 6 ft Below and are inside coffins..

For me the sheer scientific impossibility of zombies makes it so I really don't have any personal 'beliefs' about what zombies are. If they're in a story, I'll typically accept whatever the author says about them without too much grief, and if I myself was writing a story about zombies, their rules would be completely dependent upon whatever the story called for.

I guess I prefer the supernaturally induced zombies than the scientifically explained type (ie walking dead) if I had to choose, just because to me trying to explain scientifically why rotting corpses can get up and walk is like trying to explain why cuttlefish should be humanity's preferred vehicle to and from the grocery store. No matter how creative you are, it's still stupid.

Supernatural explanations, on the other hand, don't tend to tax one's willing suspension of disbelief so much and can easily create a set of rules about them that make sense.

Anyway, for consistency's sake:

  --Floating depends on how decayed they are, ie bloating. They can not swim because moving requires physiology.
• Can they run quickly or more you can outrun them easily (no matter how slow you are)? I
  -- If you can move, you can outrun them because they are dead and can not move.
• Do you think they can smell?
  -- No
• Do you think they can think? or maybe get smarter over time?
  -- No
• Do zombies talk to each other?
  -- No
• Would bodies pop out from graves?
  -- Probably not
