Ok, I see you point. Theres no, or very little supernatural aspects in the director's interpretation of the story and characters (except for Scarecrow, but that could be argued since they explained that he uses the gas).
I want trying to make you feel stupid, I was just pointing out that it's not realistic.
And even 20 years down the road I don't see that cell phone sonar system working.
And also there is no way to know what the future holds, for all you know humans might be able to fly because of some genetic mutation hundreds of years down the road. But I doubt you would classify the Superman films nowadays as realistic.... since you said that Batman movie is realistic because technology enables him to do everything he does.
But then again you need to read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technology
Technology is has a very wide definition and there are many different kinds of technology. You are just talking about gadgets.
Going back to my example of flying, lets say that in a few hundred years technology allows us to genetically engineer ourselves to be able to fly.
Would you consider a movie about something like this realistic just because technology enables you to fly?
I think flying humans (superman/dbz style - no planes or jetpacks) falls under the category of super natural (because it is out of the ordinary at least for now). You can't justify it being categorized as realistic just because technology might allow it someday. The batman movie gadgets are not any more realistic than Superman's powers... theres just no way to know if either will be possible in the future, which is why we compare to the present.

Lol it's just a movie, and movies aren't realistic. And dude, obviously it was way more realistic when COMPARED to the older Batman movies. I agree with Sandman, the Dark Knight is MUCH more realistic than Tim Burton's Batman.

I see where you're getting at, but I still find it more plausible for something like a sonar cell phone to happen as opposed to genetically engineering people to fly. At least I believe were are closer to the former than the latter. I mean, electronics and gadgets seem to be progressing at a quick pace, while we are still in the learning phase of things like cloning and stem-cell research. That's why I find it plausible to believe that things like that will be available in 20-30 years (of course only to a select group like the military) as opposed to genetically engineered humans that can fly, or just do things easier than regular people.

And my definition of supernatural differs from yours. When I call something supernatural, I tend to mean something that can't be explained my modern science. So, a flying human, or a human with super human strength will fall under the category of supernatural because there is no indication that science will be able to do these things based on the technology we have today. Sonar cell-phones seems mildly explainable by modern science. At least in my eyes. Either way, the whole point is that I don't see Nolan bringing in a villain like Clayface or Man-Bat because it is too far out of people's belief for something like that to happen.

P.S.: I no longer feel that you were trying to make me feel stupid, but the tone that which you wrote made it feel condescending. Things like "Really?" or "Doesn't get any more realistic than that, does it?" tend to have multiple meanings if it isn't verbally communicated. It could either be condescending or humorously sarcastic. So, I'll just look past that as an error on my part.

Personally I don't want a Robin in this series. Ruins the one man struggle type of scenario. Don't mind if Robin turns out to be the dead girlfriend's brother 😲

I want Mr. Freeze in the next movie or I want some universes to clash with some mix n match hero's and villains

Robin was only there to appeal to the younger audiences. Since this isn't for the younger audiences, I think we rest assured that mention of robin won't appear till the end of the next movie.

Of course robin definitely ruins batman's image.

Yeah, but only to see what a folly his last movie was. People are going to see Dark Knight because it was good. Even if they only realize it after the movie ended. They aren't going to leave with a bitter taste in their mouths.

Wow, I must have seen another Dark Knight because the one I saw was awful.

I'm kinda getting sick over hearing all this praise for Ledger. I wonder if people are being overly sympathetic just because he's dead. T_T
Regardless, I'll be going to see this soon enough I guess, since I do love The Bat. I still wish they made a Gotham By Gaslight film though.

I find it going the same way with Ledger as it did with James Dean.

Well, you're in the minority with that. Not that you're wrong for thinking that, but since I heard few people who said they didn't like it, I would like to see your reasoning for thinking it was awful.

Seriously, though. And neither were that great. They just went before their time, may God rest their souls.

Not impressed so far. It's really slow.

I didn't see Batman Begins.

But I'm about an hour in, and so far, the best performance is by Michael Caine.

I think you're a little distracted from the movie.

Yea, if you're going to sit down and really analyze a movie, you should give it 100% of your attention. Also, you should try throwing out any bias that you may have heard before hand (that includes those who loved it, and those who didn't).

I'm a seasoned movie watcher. Seriously, I have taken actual college courses in cinema analysis.

I am enjoying the movie, very much so, in fact. More analysis in about 10 minutes.

Though I must say, towards the end

At the hospital when the Joker blows the hospital is pure genious.
