Nope, and I've never felt an overwhelming need to learn how to either.
Never quite understood how to use it, wish I could though...

Oh yes, I've been using IRC for ages... kinda. 10-15 years or something.
I'm running a small fserv in #lurk if anyone's around 🙂 It's not the best due to bad upload speeds and hard drive limits though.
Yes; I learned about a year and a half ago, from some guides. My motivation came from wanting manga, but I began to get interested in how it works.
I've set up a small fserv out of curiousity.. but am mostly still a noob 😳
I hope to learn more in the future though.

For those of you who use manga hosting sites, #lurk (gotlurk.net) is awesome. Also, some of the commands are very similar to Linux commands, so that made learning Linux easier when I needed to start programming.
Yes, I know how to use IRC: its VERY easy people, really. You basically need to learn 2-3 commands (REPEAT, TWO - THREE), then youll never use anything else 😎

I need a die with 2 sides.
That's known as a "coin".
Oh, thanks. Too much D&D.

Not really. I would learn if I found a need for it, but that hasn't happened yet.

Also not really, though I've figured out enough to get in and chat and use bots if I really have/want to. Not a preferred method of communicating though.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

Somewhat, I know the basics (chatting and dl) but I don't use it often as ddl from a site is more convenient...unless I can view it online. I can't do all the fancy things either

Definitely.
Before torrents picked up in popularity, mIRC was the way to go. I learned how to use them when I was 13ish. I found learning the intricacies of MUDs harder than learning IRC 🙄
In regards to actually using IRC vs. hosting sites. I prefer DDL. It's rather annoying having to open up my IRC client and go to a scanlator's IRC just to pick up one chapter of something, when there may be a whole plethora of releases that I want that day. I'd rather open up a site that updates all the chapters the day after, and pick them all up in one place.

Hell yead i even sometimes don't bother to open the browser to view baka-updates (i use the channel for updates instead)
also i use "Irssi" ( IRC) client under Linux it works beautifully under terminal or with screen when you log remotly to ur PC or the SERVER (wait i use the company FileServer and bandwidth to download Animo ^^) 🤣

I know enough to mess around, but not enough to really do much of anything useful. I have never had a reason to really learn how to use it well and have found ways to get what I want without it.

Yes.
I download all my anime from #news.
I also talk to people a lot on a couple channels. Good way to meet people, haha.
