EDITED

Since it's summer, I thought about going on a binge. In terms of story and flow, is the anime or manga better for the following series?

--------------------------New Questions--------------------------
Honey and Clover (anime, manga or drama?)
Nodame Cantabile (anime, manga or drama?)
Blood+ (anime or manga?) <== Also, do I need to read/watch the prequel to understand the story?

--------------------------Old Questions--------------------------
Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn! (manga or anime?)
One Piece (manga or anime?)
Prince of Tennis (manga or anime?)

and also I'll probably end up trying Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and maybe even Mobile Suit Gundam 00 anime since they appear to be ahead of the manga (<== if it's as good as the other's?)...

(GASP! I know, I'm so slow... and all the hype is probably ending soon... T_T )

I haven't read/watched Hitman Reborn, so I wouldn't know about that one.

One Piece:
Watch the anime. Since it has a lot of action, it's easier to watch than to read. I like the manga more for story and flow (no fillers), but the first twenty volumes are not very good quality (since One Piece just reached its tenth anniversary and scanlation standards were generally lower ten years ago). So I highly recommend watching the anime until you are caught up to when the group, Null, started their HQ releases.

Prince of Tennis:
Read the manga. From what my brother says, the manga has gotten really good recently, and I personally got tired of watching the anime. I just felt like the anime dragged on, so reading it would probably be faster.

EDIT: My brother says to read One Piece, and then watch the anime for its fights. That way, you can skip the fillers.

Gurren Lagann is killer, you should totally watch it. Code Geass is pretty good too. As for the others you've talked about, I've only seen the One Piece anime and the Prince of Tennis manga, so I can't really compare them.

Definitely the manga for Reborn!
as for Prince of Tennis I'd go for the anime

Also, I definitely recommend you to watch Code Geass

Thank you very much! biggrin

Now, the only ones I'm unsure of are Prince of Tennis (anime or manga?) and Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (as good as the titles I mentioned earlier?)...

One Piece manga, for one it's farther, and a lot of the fillers in the Anime don't quite match the quality of the episodes based off the manga.

Gundam 00 is really good. I personally prefer it over Gurren Lagann. Although Gurren is still decent, 00 is a bit more complex and thought provoking. If you want something that's basically "GAR! Nothing is impossible!" and requires little to no thought then Gurren is your best bet (it's one of the rare shows that actually pulls it off incredibly well), but otherwise I'd take 00 every time.

If you haven't started Geass already, you might want to wait until October when the series is finished so you can watch it all without having to wait for a new episode every week.

The manga versions of the three mecha shows are much worse in comparison. Stay away from them, at least as far as your initial exposure goes.

I agree, Gundam 00 is definately a good watch. ;D

As for Prince Of Tennis...
Well, I watched all of the anime episodes & ova's but...I guess if you're looking for more matches and more continuation then you should read the manga. The manga is more focused on the matches while the anime is balanced with matches /and/ character interactions.

But the anime adapted some characters into having very, whiny and annoying attributes. I won't say who as not to spoil but yeahh. xD

So it's your pick I guess. But I prefer the anime for the equal balance. I sometimes get bored of the games.

Yeah, I agree with Crenshinibon. You should wait with Code Geass 'till it's finished. An awesome anime, btw. biggrin And TTGL and Gundam00 are highly recommended.

There's even going to be a 2nd season soon for Gundam00.

I can only say that the One Piece manga beats the anime by a lot. At least do not watch the English dub.

I think no one mentioned Nabari no Ou. It's shounen, but not the typical mindless fight after fight. There's quite a bit of dialogue.... You could say it's a bit deeper than your average shounen.

Second Gurren Lagann and Code Geass.
Soul Eater is okay (better than manga).

Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn! - DEFINITELY the manga. The anime completely downplays the action, humor, and overall awesomeness.

One Piece - I think both are pretty good. If you're looking to just watch action scenes and such, watch the anime. However, the anime is filler galore. Usually, there's a whole long arc of filler between every canon arc and it gets very tedious. In the end, I recommend the manga more.

Thank you for all the help everyone! smile

@gan17
Thanks, but I'm already watching Nabari no Ou. And I agree it's an awesome show. eyes

Also, if it's not too much trouble, can somebody please tell me whether the anime, manga or drama is better for Honey and Clover and Nodame Cantabile?

for prince of tennis, it's kind of equal and has to do with what you want. If you prefer to watch it in action, and seeing the ball move, then the anime. If you don't care for it, then go manga. I kinda liked watching the anime, but the manga ending is better.
I've never seen Honey & Clover, so idk
Nodame Cantabile, I think the anime would be better, the drama was ok, and I haven't read the manga. But since it's about music, i think it'd be better if you heard it.
