Online friends/real life friends

I get on better with some people online than I do in real life but at the end of the day an online friend is never going to be able to become so close to me as to be considered a best friend since online is limited to talk and in text it can be hard to differentiate emotions. I couldn't depend on an online friend for instance and I wouldn't trust anyone online like I trust my real life friends. Call me paranoid but I just have issues getting close to anyone, let alone someone I never meet. Having said that I've had some great conversations online and really enjoy talking to people online since at sites like these I can share and argue over views with others who share my interests when none of my real life friends are really as obsessed with manga as I am. I had a better discussion on here with Crenshi than I have with some of my aquaintances in real life. But yes, there is a distinction.
The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.

Friends are friends, but when they're online friends there's a lot of things you can't do with them!
I prefer friends in RL!!!
Looking for this!!!

I don't know it's weird with me. Usually I try not to make online friends too much only because I can't find myself to trust that person. Yeah they might be a pedophile or an 8 year old who can't type but I can't see them. I prefer to be close friends with someone who I can actually see and know face to face. But as mentioned, there are things you tell them that you can't seem to find yourself talking to with your real friends. Still, they aren't friends I can consider an important part of my life but I still consider them friends who I can have a good time talking to 😀

all of my friends don't like manga/anime so i don't get to talk bout it much just on this website
i don't trust people how i can't see face to face on the net cause they might just say wat they think u want them to say to just get closer cause cyber bullying, stalking and ect do happen
it's just good to talk bout manga/anime not personal details

I like real life friends more. since their more likely to be real than online friends. And also the internet is serious business y'know. Can't be just making friends right and left here now can I?

It's kinda normal for ppl to be paranoid bout trusting someone from the internet..
But if you find the right site and the right people, then you'll be fine =)
As for my internet friends, I trust them a lot.. We've all seen our real faces and our home videos posted on our youtube channels..we've even be online at the same time on a regular basis. Internet can be awesome sometimes!

There are some people I knew irl already, but got to know more about them online. And the majority of the time i spend with them is online. And I've met online people offline before.
Basically, i associate with people online more often 'cuz offline, I'm not that great at expressing myself and people just think I'm ignoring them or giving them the stink eye (I guess i can say that i have a mean face.)
I trust online and real life friends almost equally. Because I feel that they are only friends. Friends are different from my Close friends.
(get me?)
Not everyone out there is a pedophilic rapist. 😀

In the last month or so, I have met some incredible people online. I dare say that they are far more interesting than (& I prefer a few to) some of my real life friends. Granted, I don't know if that is just their online persona or not, but I have fun chatting with them.

Online friends aren't really real to me. There's a few I met blogging that I keep in touch with more or less, but I can't totally trust them, like if they'd ever want to meet up, then I would... with extreme caution. I also find it much easier to chat to real life friends than online friends, and my online persona is about the same as my personality in real life too.

well i do sorta...b/c u dont no if they are who they say they are, so online friends arent all that real to me also cuz im not on that often these days, IRL, friends u see them like almost everyday, u can hang out, watch tv/movies, talk on the phone.
Online u cant really do that. But i found a lot of interesting ppl online that i enjoy talking to & u can also go on forums to meet ppl with similar interests which is great~

I dont have much friends.... neither in real life or online so i cant realy tell any differnts. But i think as long as they are honest it dosnt matter if they are real life or online friends.
For the sane people I am insane, for me the sane people are insane!
bump
it doesn't really matter to me. as long as i feel like i can trust them. but, it is often easier to trust people in real life. if i see them face to face its not as hard to tell if they are telling the truth or not 🤨
but my experience with online friends has been good so far! 😀

The only real online friend that I remember was this one lady I met on WoW. I got along really well with her and talked/quested with her as much as possible. I learned a lot about her and her life and it was pretty interesting (I was, "WOAH! A mother playing WoW with her kids!"). Then I stopped playing WoW cause of time restraints and everything. I guess I kinda miss her. She still plays though.
To answer the thread question, no I don't really differentiate between them. I'm better friends with people in real life (most of the time) but it's really quite fun. For the telling the truth part, I feel I can trust them. I'm not as paranoid as some people when it comes to info (probably not a good habit) cause I think that since I won't ever really meet them in RL, it doesn't really matter. Hopefully I won't make "friends" with some kind of murderer.
And also, IRL, I feel people kinda treat me different because they can see my face and... my height. People online make their own impressions based on what I say and do.
