Shoujo and Yaoi

I read both but prefer yaoi. Too many times in shoujo the angst and stupidity of characters especially the females is soo unbelievable I can't get through the storyline. I do like Lee Young Hee's You're so cool though.
In yaoi, a lot of times the guys are drawn really pretty or as someone once told me as eye candy. I like eye candy. Can't get a cavity from this sweet stuff.

I don't read shoujo, mainly find the heroines annoying and the storylines are very cliched.
yaoi on the other hand can be cliched (especially the rape plots) but mostly more mature and has more substance than shoujo. i just find two guys in a relationship more romantic. 😀

Yaoi fans tend to also enjoy shojo, but not always of course. I enjoy the occasional yaoi, but unlike the previous posters I prefer more shojo-esque yaoi.

I'm divided between Yaoi and Shoujo.
(Actually Shoujo/Comedy with strong heroines.)
These are the two genres that i like the most. 😉

I prefer shoujo although I do like some yaoi. I prefer shounen ai more than yaoi and like it as much as I like shoujo. The problem with most yaoi is that it favors the rape scenario far too much. Rarely do you see rape taken seriously in yaoi. At least I can find a decent amount of shoujo (not smut) and shounen ai series that take it seriously. Most yaoi makes me cringe. A lot of the authors try to make it seem like their yaoi has a deep story while having rape scenes with a guy who looks like he is enjoying it, blushing, and screaming. It's like wtf? Just be honest. You made porn, hentai, whatever. I have nothing against porn. Just stop trying to make it look deeper than what it really is because it just makes it like a comedy. An unintentional comedy. I find it funny when people say the girls in shoujo are weak and yet seem fine w/ the vast amounts of pathetic weak uke she-males in yaoi. Btw the "brush off the fact I just got raped" guys like in View Finder does not equal a strong and independent main character either.
Despite this harsh post believe it or not I do like some yaoi. Most of which are old and/or unpopular.

i use to read shoujo but now i mostly read yaoi. i found that shoujo have waaaaay too much cliches. 😮 Every single of seem to have at least 1 or 2. so i move onto yaoi which has less cliches. 😃

I can't say that I don't like shoujo..and I'm really gratefull that there is shoujo because it let me to yaoi manga (to be more precise so shounen ai) but after reading a lot of shoujo it gets boring...to many cliches and 89% of the heroines are just copletely unlikable (crybaby, stupid, weird charm...etc)...I as a girl think "how can such a stupid person exist" so I don't read much shojo anymore...only these with strong female leads (and then only a few).
I prefer yaoi and for me the art is not really important (of course I LOVE great art) but the story is most important. I know that there are a lot yaoi out there with little story but there are also really great ones! Which is the reason why I'll stick to yaoi to discover all those fantastic storys XD
