but if you say one word repeatedly, the pronunciation seems to change

i know exactly what you mean, happens to me all the time. If you type the same word over and over, it will appear to be spelled wrong after a while.

When I'm writing something, if I end up repeating a word (especially a name) over and over, it starts to look like it's misspelled.
