A Replacement

Anyone know a manga where the main character tries to replace someone(ex. a dead/former lover or even a hero). That main character often gets negatively compared and criticized because he can't live up or cannot match up to the person he is replacing. any genre is fine just no hentai, yuri, yaoi.

Touch
If you are into high school baseball, drama kind of thing.
I don't say soap opera/cliche because was written in the 80's, so it was probably pretty damn original for it's time.
Oh and the manga has also been animated into about 100 episodes, which have been fansubbed.
Edit: I saw the anime, which was really good (must have been amazing for it's time). I've heard that the manga art is sub-par so it might not appeal, but if you start reading it and enjoy the story, give the anime a shot instead (if you can't stand bad art).
