As long as the manga is good, nothing else matters.

I think this poll would be more interesting if there were options for "Better opinion of the manga" and "Worse opinion of the manga."

The mangaka's gender does change my opinion of the manga, but not in a way that makes me like the manga any less. It usually makes me more appreciative that someone is breaking into a demographic where the mangakas and readers are mostly the opposite gender.

Unlike the OP, I like Dengeki Daisy more knowing that it is by a man.

Hm... Well, I guess I don't care, but then if a shojo manga is written by a guy, it kinda throws me off... And I try to forget it.

I don't even check what gender the mangaka is. I don't care what gender they are. A guy can write a shojo or yaoi or a girl write yuri 🤣 All I do care for is if the manga is good.

I just remembered why I voted "Depends"

Sometimes, when I find out the gender of an artist is opposite of what I initially thought (especially when it turns out to be a female instead of a male), it lights up my artistic rivalry spirit

Not really. Except for when it's something I really don't expect and it actually makes the manga seem better

Mm, sometimes I'll look at it differently, but whether it's good or bad remains the same. Sometimes I'll be like, "This guy's heroes aren't quite typical. Is it because he's a guy?" But my actual opinion of the character isn't affected. I voted "Depends."

In a way yes. But it is hard to define sexist considering there is definitely a differences between the sexes. I mean it is proven we have different parts; not to mention we think and learn differently.

Especially when it comes to writing. I think this more so applies to romance because when you look at shounen and shoujo there is SUCH a big difference between how men see romance and how women romance. (generally not all the time) So I just find it odd that a man can write from a girls perspective (well) so easily.

I mean, I write scripts and I tend to make guys in a stereotypical way or see things the way a woman would see things.

I think after reading Degenki Daisy I noticed that there is a little more empathy with the male leads then there usually is in romance. Not to mention it is a tad realistic. There are going to be differences... Not that it's a bad thing.

Well, sort of. Like when I found out that the manga-ka of FMA is a woman, I thought, "So that's why there are hints of romances.."

In my opinion, shonen manga made by women are more susceptible to romance.. Like Inuyasha, FMA.. Are there shonen manga made by a woman that has absolutely no romance in it? 😕

Shounen mangas should always have romance 🙂 , why wouldn't there be, it'll just be fags fighting all the time.

Edit: wait, wth!? Dengeki Daisy's mangaka is a guy!?!?!? O_O!
Hmhm, who'd thought guys would draw bishies. :3
