It's not that I hated it, I actually liked it until they switched worlds for the second time.(around chp.14 if memory serves. Then all the interest I ever had for Tsubasa came down crashing and never got up again.

So, the real problem is that you can't get it up?

I'm not insulting you, but making a predictable joke. I could honestly care less about your feelings for Tsubasa (as I've never read it).

yea i lost interest at the 2nd world change as well. since its the same characters appearing over and over in different situations and with little or no connecting story from one world to the next it go boring for me fast.

Sorry for sounding like a pretentious little brat ^_^''

Absolute no-no's:
Harems
Eyes-as-big-as-boobs girls in mangas
Pantyshots galleries
Ecchi, Lolicon, Shotacon, Yuri, Shoujo Ai, Yaoi but Shounen-ai doesn't bother me at all
Miaka (Fushigi-Yuugi) act-alikes and damsel in distress heroines. Think any cliche that makes you tear your hair out. Or plots that spin around completely around romance. Or around rescuing the idiot heroine that thought following the mysterious dark guy was a good idea.
Mecha (I never grew to like it...)

first of all you're remarks seem very biased, "shounen-ai" being ok but saying shoujo-ai isnt, and stating mecha as an "absolute no-no" is blasphemy lol

also i agree to a point, im tired of the POORLY done harem series. Clannad, and Kanon 2006 can be considered harem, and they are both very good. so is the original Tenchi Muyo OVA's, once again pretty well executed.

now harem series that make me think to myself "man i feel like an idiot for watching this, and why do i keep downloading new episodes" are stuff like...

Rosario Vampire (this series is as cliche' and poorly written as u can get), or like...
H2OFootprints in the Sand

i still enjoy those series however, but there's a big difference comparing Tokimeki Memorial Only Love to the original To Heart, or Da Capo Season 2 vs Nagasarete Airantou

Yes I'm extremely biased. Or just have fixed tastes. Being female of couse shoujo-ai makes me more uncomfortable than shounen-ai (most of the time) and if you'll ask a guy the same question you'll get the opposite answer (again, most of the time). 😃 And stuff like pantyshots. Or lolicon. Or stuff like that. Simply things I like to keep my manga folder free of.(especially lolicon)
And heck, I like "mecha" (you have an avid reader of sci-fi books here) but in mangas it never "clicked" for me.
Now name a genre you just don't like, or have zero interest in. It's the same with harem stuff for me. It's just that they seem to overflood me wherever I go. Though I don't have anything with the series itself. No banning harem or anything (sorry if you got that idea) but how some people never read seinen or shoujo, I don't like harem, and prefer to stay away from it.

I like how the previous poster (Tsuyo) indicated being biased was a bad thing in regards to genre tastes.

I personally feel that as long as we try something once, then we have enough knowledge to realize if the genre is going to have potential (depending on the manga itself) or largely be not worth the read.

The only time I have not actually held to my creed of trying everything at least once has been with Yaoi, Shoujo-Ai, Shounen-Ai, Josei, Smut, and Lolicon. They didn't sit well with me, but I like to give everything else a chance, took me some time to actually appreciate a few of the non-cliched gender-benders though.

Anyway, power to you and your specifications on what you're looking for. It's much harder for people to actually suggest things to read with the broad "oh well, i don't really know what i'd like." And then proceed to inform the posters that they've read every cliched/ultra-popular manga that was subsequently posted.

Kudos.

I can understand the tsubasa hate, but it gets better, every chapter over the Tokyo arc is like a new series, they wanted to make up for all the serious they didnt put in the first 100 chapters.

07-ghost is very good in my opinion.
Kare Kano (His and Her circumstances) is very good, the main character certainly isn't a Miaka. Romance/character based series.
I'll second xxxholic

About tsubasa.. it gets too long and.. too much..winding and twisting, just like usual CLAMP ... [ I read it and to some extent, drop it..sorry about that..tsubasa lovers ]

Erm... the best thing I can think of, that doesn't have cliches, and some supernetural touch to it... but it contains elemnts, although slight, but still.. of shounen ai (well, it's a plus for me 😀 )
wild adapter
