NHK ni Yokoso is a pretty good example for a hikkimori based manga. Well, okay, I'll take that back. In my opinion, the manga sucked, go with the novel 🤢 But yeah, deals with depression, pedophilia, drugs (to a minor degree), perversion, and overall hikkimori-ness.

- It's had amazing art; I absolutely love it.
- It super suspenseful. I almost had a heart attack.
- One of the main character is a genius, so it might remain you of Death Note
- It shows how evil people are in order to get money.
I love it.

Skyhigh - has bizarre sexual deviancy despite sexual repression and other darker parts of Japanese society. I felt the author was presenting them to make the reader think instead of glorifying something like some male-oriented fanservice manga.

I'd go with Kaji Ryuusuke no Gi. It's a political manga that I think shows politics in a realistic fashion. Some are good... Some are not. If you want a thorough explanation go here, because I can't say it any better then he does.
