Conventions...
I've never been to any (still in highschool) but I hear a lot about them. I live near boston and i know theres one up here.
So whats the deal with them? I'm completely clueless about them 😕
(manga etc. cons of course, not like star trek)

It's where all the otakus gather and you can laugh at all the cosplayers! 🤣
Edit: It's also where people reveal new info about upcoming series and stuff or what is becoming licensed and it's also a nice place to display your artistic talent in hopes of becoming a professional artist or whatever. A lot of stores/companies which deal in anime/manga also flock to conventions to sell their stuff so it's a good place to go if you're looking to buy stuff. Most of the stuff is decently priced but occasionally you'll find a good deal or something that's just ridiculously expensive.

The one near you would be Anime Boston. Cons are basically places where anime/manga fans can hang out. Some dress up as their favorite characters and are called cosplayers. There's also merchandise rooms where merchants sell all their wares like anime, manga, games, figures, you name it. There's usually some kind of screening room (or MANY screening rooms) that show different anime based on a time table. The major cons also have some kind of singing competition, masquerade, and AMV competition (AMV = Anime Music Video). And of course, there are the panels. Some are fan-run while others are run by the industry giants. They can range from different subjects such as the Japanese tea ceremony to announcing the next licensed series. And of course, there's an artist gallery where regular people can set up a place to show off their art.

I've only been to one.. I went to Otakon last year in Baltimore, MD. It was pretty neat. Basically there was a huge dealer room where you could buy stuff, and they had different panels where you could learn about different things related to anime/manga/jpop stuff. There were anime viewing rooms, manga readings rooms, concerts, contests, gaming rooms, and lots more.

I think people are too busy staring at that avatar of yours to bother with what you said. I know I was until a minute ago. Just kidding.
Conventions- wanna go to one someday hopefully in the near future. 😁

just one mentionable in germany 😔
but i don't care, first it is over 300 kilometers away from my home, and second is that germans and animeCons are a bad fusion.....no normal people there, just a million 12-years fans (or tards?) (a friend of mine was there)
germany is not ready for that kind of thing^^

YeY! I wuv my avatar too 🤣
I used to go to Anime Expo in Anaheim, California all the time because my friend's parents owned a video store which specialized in anime so they would have a booth there. I would work at the booth for a couple days and I would get to play around on the last day...and they got me this cool badge which let me go in for free! 😎
Hey....wait a minute...does that mean people don't take me seriously!? 🤢

Not at all at least I take you seriously. It just takes me a minute before I start reading what you wrote. I need one minute staring time before I satrt typing as well. Just kidding. Oh by the way lucky you getting in for free. Oh r u a girl, because u said "wuv"? Like my new avatar i'm sticking with this one his name is zippo and he's the character I would be if I were on southpark. He's an alien who was sent ahead to blend in and observe the humans and he thinks that all the smartest humans are nerds who like star wars. 😁
If you wanna make your own you can do so here: http://sp-studio.de/
but as to how you make it into your avatar I won't help you there. (it's not that complicated)

Its just too far away from where I live so I don't really get a choice in the matter, since I'm too busy to be going to such a far place. But I would really like to go to one, one day. It seems plenty fun.

They are kinda scary..just look up man-faye with google images or something...LoL. But most of the people you meet are very nice people...a little on the weird side, but nice.
