As long as there isn't hate crime about the terms, it doesn't really matter. too many people are getting ridiculed these days just because of what they are 😔

No kidding!! .... I get ridiculed all the time for being a nobody. 🙁

Being gay would actually be a mental disorder. Humans are not suppose to think like that. But so is being left-handed

your right but actually in the with that mindset tons of sexual fetishes are disorders, shit if that was true and my mental disposition reflected my physical id be put up in a circus freak show

i don't have a problem with gay people.

but i dont think everyone should be able to fully live out their sexuality just because "they are born like that and can't help it".. i don't mean gay people but pedophiles, saddists a.s.o

even if they can't help it they shoudln't be allowed to do it (and aren't. for what i know )...

its just that i have heard this " i am born like this " so often and i don't think its a valid argument... there are plenty people who are born with disorders and HAVE TO supress them, or they go to jail.

sry for being OT^^

but as i said.. theres nothing wrong with being gay

The only real flaw with this argument is that no one really gets hurt because of someone being homosexual, in addition to the fact that being homosexual doesn't have an inherent negative influence on society. Being locked up because you're homicidal makes perfect sense (pick any of a variety of less obvious examples if you want to), but there's a big difference between that and homosexuality.

that's why i said theres nothing wrong with being gay. you're absolutely right. being gay is harmless.. two man (or women) fall in love with each other... so what?? i don't see anything wrong there.

but just because your born with something different than the norm that doesn't give you any extra "rights"... that's why i don't like the argument. there are good and bad things you can be born with...but thats not going to change the fact of them being good or bad^^...

im rambling to much

Sorry, I misread some of your first post (I accidentally missed the "i don't mean gay people but pedophiles, saddists a.s.o" part, which was rather important). I think I was confused by the way Juicifer approached it.

But yeah, my point basically remains the same- disorders that are harmful to society are removed with good reason, so why make a big deal about ones that don't cause any damage? If it doesn't hurt anyone, there's nothing wrong with accepting it, hence the "extra rights".

Whenever I come across something idiotic... I tend to say "That's gay"

But calling someone a fagot... is just gay.

To be honest; I've never experienced these situations before so if it ever happens, it'll more than likely be awkward.

Real awkward...

Though if it's a guy, I don't think I'd care.
If it's a girl, I'm gonna have to tell her I'm perfectly straight.
With that, life moves on like it usually does.

I know a lot of gay/bi people...and i'm still friends with them.
...i'm catholic so i don't believe that people should be gay, but i'm not going to make fun of you or try to convert you into being a heterosexual. i think that we're all born straight, until something causes you to like the other sex. i'm just voicing my opinion. i just think that more conservatives (like me) should be more aware and kinder to homosexual/bisexual people ^^

a lot of girls like to hit on me for fun (sometimes i don't know if they're joking o.O), it used to get me angry and frustrated ('cause i was a homophobe), but now i've accepted that people are different (no longer a homophobe).

anyway i hate when people use the term "gay" too much, even though i use it occasionally 🤢

I don't know if this is just the way it is in my country, but here people aren't very open about admitting their sexuality (I only know of one guy being gay, but I hardly think he's the only one in my town!), and, well, many people - sadly, I am talking about intelligent, hardworking people here - have lots of prejudices against things that are "wrong".

A good friend of mine, a very intelligent young lady and one of the nicest, most supportive people you'll ever find, and I, have finally decided to avoid discussing about these kinds of topics in the first place, because I get very heated up whenever she tries to convince me that "being gay is an illness and it must be cured!" It scares me, it really scares me to death, because, worst part is, most of my friends actually agree with her, and the rest agrees with me more because they want to shut me up than because they actually support my ideas.

It scares me because the people I'm taking about are not ignorant old men who blindly believe everything the church says or something, but bright, young men and women who will be tomorrow's parents! Why am I the only one who is outraged when I hear on the news that a 19 year old girl got stabbed by her mother because she confessed she was lesbian? Why must people judge other people depending on their sexual preferences?

I am a 19 year old, hetero, catholic girl, and yet (maybe it's because I've traveled a lot and met lots of people from different countries and cultures) I do not think there is anything wrong with being gay. I think it's part of who you are. And it scares me to think if someday my future child will tell me he's gay, and he'll be surrounded by such close-minded people who are great at talking about human rights and stuff like that, but that if you talk to them honestly, they cannot see past their noses.

God, I'm sorry about the rant, I KNOW I went off topic somewhere, but I just had to get this out of my system!!!

i can see your point, i think some people nowadays are too extreme with their views/prejudices on homosexuals. i wish more people were more open minded...

@tomomimorgan:

well if your friend says that so convicted, id have doubts on her intelligence. Seriously.
Anyway, yes i feel the same as you, next time im sure theyll say that liking the light grey color is a mental illness XD

Those people that says so about gays, not only are on the verge of radical fascism (consult wiki for Lombroso and such for a similar example) but deny other's freedom of choice. Cause being gay is simply a matter of sexual ORIENTATION, not a mental disorder: because with our superior intellect, different from animals that strive to procreate so to perpetuate the species, we have even the choice of what inspires us sexual desires. Its not that gays really think that mating with own gender will make babies, lol! THAT would be rightfully called a mental disorder, cmon.
And anyway even in the animal world there are many gay behaviours (same-sex intercouse i mean), but for different purpouse other than simple pleasure (mmm maybe Bonobo chimpanzees do it for the pleasure, iirc)

In the end, its a matter of tolerance: you tomomimorgan are tolerant, your friends are not. I think there's something that involves one's self esteem and self confidence (other than life experience and childhood raising) if he/she is not tolerant. They see a "threat" in behaviours that are different from their own.

:3

Indifferent, could really care less about anyone else's opinion >.>
Whenever my friends and I every say "gay", we don't mean it in the sexual orientation way most of the time, like sometimes someone says "that is so gay!", doesn't have anything really to do with sexual orientation.
